    iPhone 8 wireless charging

. It's there, its under that thermal paste and black square. See the two leads coming off the coil. That's how mine originally looked, I had to pry it off the black housing (carefully) by flexing the plastic shell and working it with a heat gun.

    iPhone 8 wireless charging

15 Denali here and I'm getting mixed results. Removing the magnet was definitely a must-do to get any kind of transmission. My guess is that it might be something the less popular PMA standard uses, but interferes with Qi. The green piece should stay however. It's used to provide feedback for...

    Auxiliary Switches - where's best?

I use these LED Ring switches . Easily have room for 3 spaced out, possibly 4 if done a little tighter. The link is for momentary, but they come in SPDT, and sockets are also available to make wiring easier.

Does the factory installed entertainment system support apple airplay

Not natively, but if you wire in a 4th Gen AppleTV to be the rear input source, you can AirPlay directly to it without the need for wifi. I also read that it's possible to bypass the AC/DC power supply and wire the ATV directly to 12v, but have yet to rip one apart. I'm currently using a...

    Rear Window Defroster Wires

Had both of mine pop off and used this repair kit. Takes a 15/20 minutes for it to cure, so set it in place with painter's tape. Going on a year now without issue.

Denali Cluster with Heads Up Display

Nice work, lots of effort to get that in there. I had a factory HUD in my Grand Prix and now my Yukon, but used a cheap OBD connected HUD in my Avalanche to get the speedo. If the double image start to get to you, try one of these as a quick cheap solution. Way cheaper than a new windshield...

    Dash cam

I was one car behind a pretty nasty accident. Speeding sedan clipped a minivan during an aggressive lane change. Minivan lost control hit the media and flipped, sedan just took off. If I had the camera at that time I would have had a clean shot of his license plate. Rear camera would also catch...

    Dash cam

Try this link, it should be public. it's the only decent one I have on my PC tonight. I normally don't have the microphone set to record, but on this day it was on. That music is coming from my stereo. Just make sure it's set to 1080p. If the link doesn't work I can pull some video from the...

    Dash cam

I'm running 4x of these: http://a.co/4dpBeBH One in the front and rear. (I never open just the rear glass, always the whole liftgate) One each on the sides in the fixed rear glass. All hardwired with 12v-5v (mini usb) adapters

    Leaking roof liner

Same problem here after a getting soaked all night in PA. The volume of water I have just doesn't look like it would come in from the notch behind the Antenna. I'm thinking it's getting in underneath the black plastic trim that runs from the edge roof rails to the windshield. Mine has...

Looks awesome. I'm using black overlays but as soon as they deteriorate, I'm going to follow your lead and paint them.

    FlIR Thermal Nightvision install

No real reason honestly, just a fun tech project. Saw Predator too many times as a kid maybe. But it is cool seeing cops and animals hiding in the distance before your headlights pick them up.

    Hidden Storage Interrupter Switch?

Once the weather breaks I'm going to work on this. I'm thinking that a simple 2-wire interrupter on whatever feeds the screen actuator/motor should work. Hold the new button in, while pressing the factory button and it will complete the circuit. I used these 19mm illuminated ring switches for...

    Key fob commands?

Hold lock in for more than 5sec and it will fold the mirrors in. Hold unlock for more than 5sec to unfold them. Hold unlock in for about 10 seconds to roll all the windows down.

    Backup SmartFob idea.

I've always hated having the bulk of keys in my pocket. Once I switched to a Smartfob vehicle I converted all my house locks to mix of fingerprint, bluetooth and RF activated handles and deadbolts. So now the only thing I carry on my carabiner is the fob for my Yukon. Comfortably attached to...

    FlIR Thermal Nightvision install

Thanks guys. I picked it up on eBay a few years ago for $1500 and had it in my Avalanche, just moved it to the Yukon recently. The newest model PathFindIR 2, retails for around $2400 here but there are a bunch on eBay now. Go with the 30Hz to get a smoother video.

Anyone tried mophie wireless iphone case with charger pad?

I had it for a few days and it worked for me. (returned it for other reasons) My go-to <$20 Qi case is this one. You do have to make sure the phone is positioned closer to the back seat to get the coils to line up.

    FlIR Thermal Nightvision install

Wanted to share some pics of my thermal imager install incase anyone was looking for mounting ideas. Started with taking the entire front bumper off. Along the upper radiator mount drilled 4x thru holes and used 1/4-20 stainless screws and locknuts to create a series of four mounting...

I need a replacement Key Fob and...

I've added 2 more to my '15 Yukon. I picked them up on ebay for next to nothing, but they were used. After trying myself using the method in the manual, and having the dealer attempt I thought it could't be done without buying a new $150/200 replacement The pairing process in the manual is...
