    Buying a 2011 ppv

I will do a search for more, but two questions off the bat. Won't they work for 2014 also? I know that Tech 2s and solid knock offs are available, but isn't the software still a little tricky? You can get a loaded laptop, or get the software to work, but how do you deal with the yearly...

A Sticky for New PPV/SSV Owners To Re-Civilianize Our Tahoes

On the luggage rack, I have read others state the holes or the marks for the holes are there, but I don't see anything on mine. Would like a luggage rack, although if I drill holes in the roof I do picture having to chase down leaks.

A Sticky for New PPV/SSV Owners To Re-Civilianize Our Tahoes

^^^ Yep^^^ If you're going to get in too deep get something else. But the idea is good, and the topics make sense. Pick what you want to change. But I think each topic needs it's own place as a sub topic. We can't have "nothing worked on mine" and then a post saying "my doors worked, but my...

    Buying a 2011 ppv

I'd keep the blue. Besides liking blue, it is hard to find a SSV/PPV that is not black or white.

    Increasing key fob range?

I'm seeing the first thing to try if over time your fob seemed to lose range. Clean the battery and contacts. Just a little extra resistance here seemed to cause issue for many people. After that, there is plenty of information out there for extending the range of a properly working fob. From...

    Increasing key fob range?

Where is the internal vehicle antenna for the fob? Can these be modified? (I've never looked at this, I don't even know what frequency they use or type of antenna you would try..)

2013 Tahoe SSV key fobs / remote control

It should... Did it on my 2014 without an issue. Are you sure you are hitting the right steps, holding the button...? I forget the details on mine, but a quick search shows: 1. Make sure the transmission is in park. 2. Push the trip odometer reset button until the display says "relearn remote...

got rear doors to open from inside

That got me too. I did all the reading here before buying my SSV. Ordered the window switches, simple. Lock knobs and rod, easy. Then tried to look for the cable. Had the thing apart for half a day. Checking part numbers, diagrams, every youtube video of how the doors come apart, how to replace...

Tahoe no headrest (head restraint) for middle seat

Long story but on a trip with a rental vehicle my dad ended up in that center back seat. Expressway ramp where you don't just merge, but have the stop lights, and someone plowed in to them from behind at 50 mph. He was the only one that got messed up.

2013 Tahoe SSV key fobs / remote control

And one other thing I learned, you have to do them all at once. I have 4. Would program one, cool it works. Then my other one didn't, reprogrammed, cool it works. Hey, my other one isn't working now.. :-)

2013 Tahoe SSV key fobs / remote control

Which is why I love these fleet vehicles, you can do it yourself and save the money. For the fobs, I bought mine off of Amazon, and they included a chipped key. Saved my $45 by having a local locksmith cut it for me. I know on other GM cars in the past you could do your own fob programming...

    Back to Autoride School

Autoride is what I miss most about my last Tahoe. It did make it ride like a Caddy. That ride would hold it's own against any luxury car, but was able go many other places... :-)

    Thoughts on 4wd auto?

I know it's an old thread, but as long as we are getting to that time of year again... I like having the Auto and 4WD options, as well as 2. (Did not want AWD spinning all summer). I'm a big fan of the Auto except in two cases. - If it really looks like you need 4WD, you may want to put it in...

    It took about 30 seconds

Do that in good ol' Chicago and you'll be in jail longer than the tire thieves. Actually at that point they wouldn't even look for the tire thieves, you're easier to work with and have money...

    Hey there

Nice, I had a 2002 and loved it. (Although I'm not sure of leveling kit on yours, my 2002 was perfectly level and looked like yours from the factory... )

Had my Unity Spotlight factory rebuilt!

It's nice to hear that Unity is fair to work with. They are right here in Chicago (and not much is fair in Chicago...) I was tempted to stop by there to try to get a new lens, the old ones get clouded up so easy. Their prices seemed a bit steep, but I found an out-of-box one on eBay for a just...

09' SSV Rear Pass. Tail Light No "Running Lamps" w/ Fogs/Lights ON, Brake Lights Work...

I'm pretty good at electrically troubleshooting, and this didn't make any sense to me either. Testing the supply and throwing juice to the entire taillight housing showed it should have worked, but it didn't. Checked both sides of that harness at the bottom of the frame, cleaned it out well...

09' SSV Rear Pass. Tail Light No "Running Lamps" w/ Fogs/Lights ON, Brake Lights Work...

First off, if you have fog lamps to turn on I believe you have something other than a factory SSV. (Unless you meant running lights..) I had an issue with the rear driver lamp on my SSV. I had a second lens, swapped it in and that worked. I know it was the short connection under the vehicle...

    Blizzaks !

I eyed those up for SO long. 90 winter driving, but didn't want to deal with two sets of tires. It is hard to believe those work well looking at the tread, but I read the theory that a snow tire should hold the snow, not clear it's treads like a mud tire. Snow on snow traction works best, so...

    Battery # 2

My 02 Tahoe was only used in the winter, and I never had a problem with one battery. Long story, but ended up paying for a battery that I did not need, and put the second tray in so I would not feel so bad about having the battery laying around... :-)

What is supposed to go by the fender?

I have a tray, hold down, cables and a battery that pulled out of my last Tahoe before selling it... (Battery would not be worth shipping.... :-) ... and I don't have enough posts to sell yet.. :- ) ) Hey, I just hit 85 with this one...

Best at tires for 99 suburban 4wd

I'm glad I'm done with all my research now. Spent forever on it, I can share all my spreadsheets if you like.... :) My vehicle has one main purpose, pull a trailer in the snow/ice. Did not want to get dedicated snow tires that are good for 6-12k miles and swap for the season. I was down to...

    Recommendations on brakes?

It seems strange to me that the rears wear faster. All my other vehicles went along with the theory that weight transfers to the front when braking and the front does most of the work. I kept checking the front pads on my last Tahoe and they were not wearing at all. Never even looked at the...
