I knocked out several projects in the past few days on my 2009 Yukon XL Denali.
- Replaced passenger side CV axle
- Replaced rear brake rotors and pads (PowerStop Z23 rotors with ceramic pads)
- Replaced starter
Next projects :
- Air ride delete / New front and rear shocks and...
I finally got this resolved. I was able to get the Dorman lock actuator to work. The issue was that the rod that connects the outside door handle to the actuator was rubbing against the inside of the door, keeping the actuator from re-engaging the lock latch once the door closed. I was able to...
I finally swapped the front brakes on my 2009 Denali XL for a set of PowerStop Z23 rotors and pads.
Those rusty rotors needed a lot of elbow grease to come loose!
The drivers side rotor was warped and a stuck caliper pin may have been the culprit. Getting that stuck caliper pin out...
My mistake was buying a Dorman product. Never again lol
Got a quote from the shop for close to $1000 to fix this so I’m returning my actuator for an AC Delco one and getting a new door handle.
I got the door to open from both inside and outside but now it won’t latch shut! Any ideas? Both the exterior and interior door handles work to unlatch the actuator as shown in the video, but when the door closes the latch doesn’t engage and hold the door shut. At least I can open it now. Going...
Somehow got it open ! I pulled up on the interior door catch and it finally opened. The child lock was NOT activated so I’m really wondering what could be causing this to not open on the inside or outside. Any thoughts or advice would be appreciated.
That’s what isn’t working. I have opened the door this way before and it worked in the past but when I try and move the lever now by hand nothing happens. Really at a loss what to do hopefully the shop can figure it out. Don’t know how I managed to replace handles on three of my doors perfectly...
I have pulled on the exterior door latch and it won’t pop open the door. I didn’t check if child safety lock was enabled when I installed the actuator so that might be part of my problem. But the exterior handle should still open the door when it is in the unlock position. I’ve been fighting...
I had just replaced all interior / exterior door handles a few weeks ago but noticed one of my rear lock actuators was not unlocking / locking on command. I ordered a Dorman OEM actuator and installed it. The door now unlocks and locks perfect but when I put the door back together neither the...
Finally got rid of the aftermarket OZ chrome wheels that came on my 2009 Denali when I bought it a few months ago. Got a set of Silverado 20” rims off FB Marketplace.
I might spring for some black hubcaps and lug nuts soon to go with them. For now a big improvement!
The door handle is only attached to the body with 2 10mm bolts. Reused those no problem but the issue was that the sleeve in the original door handle would become separated. It would just spin freely because its a round metal piece and doesn't really have edges.
WTF is a nutert?? Soaked them in PB Blaster and let them sit for half an hour. Then applied dad strength torque to a set of vice grips on those boys and they usually came loose alright. I'll tell you there were moments where I was definitely getting a lil nervous. Luckily they all came loose!
I really like the way the black handles look over the chrome. I think it will look much better once I get the chrome door trim off and eventually a set of some black GMC 20” rims. If anyone is ever looking to get rid of a set in the Denver, CO area please let me know!
We got the rest of the interior and exterior handles changed out today. Turns out it goes a lot faster when you have a little help! Get em' started young I say!
Had some more of those fun stripped door handle bolts! Rear drivers side was the only handle that had zero.
Here's some of the...
I am going to be doing a chrome delete soon on my Denali, and I honestly like the look of these textured black ones. They will look a lot better once I get some black wheels and remove the chrome trim from the doors. They are AC Delco so I’m sure they will hold up fine, at least as long as my...
PB Blaster and some vice grips did the trick! Got the driver outside / inside handles changed successfully. Found some candy wrappers inside the door panel not sure how those got there! Now only 3 doors left to do I'll do the front passenger tomorrow and the rear doors next week. I'm expecting...
I ordered new textured black door handles last week, and they arrived yesterday. I walked out to my car to open the drivers side door this morning and the handle immediately broke and would not open the door. What terrific timing I have! So I took the door panel apart because I was planning to...
LT is not doing a video on my truck unfortunately but I did get to see a Jeep Wagoneer that they are putting a 6.6 in that will be featured in the next video. Bummer for me but I was just excited to meet him and talk shop for a little bit. He’s had a lot of family stuff going on and he recently...
Today was the day I finally got to pick up my Denali! The hour and a half drive back home was very smooth, with no issues at all. I definitely can tell the difference with the Jasper reman, and I think the transmission shifts much more smoothly with the new torque converter as well. The truck...
Nice! We threw a remanned GM torque converter in my factory 6l80 last week it has 145k on it. Fluid and filter looked good when I bought it no metal in the pan and shifts nicely. I had my engine out so I figured we could just throw the new converter in and that might buy me some time. Good luck...
The engine replacement and suspension work is being done by an independent repair shop. The cosmetic damage happened as a result of weather related events while my car was parked inside and outside the shop. As far as the damage caused by the wind blown dumpster, I’m content with them giving me...
Trust me, after all the money I’ve put into this land-yacht we’re gonna be keeping her forever! We did get a remanned torque converter thrown in yesterday that LT sourced from a GM dealership before they put the Jasper in. They should have the new motor running today. They will test drive the...
Well, I was supposed to pick up the truck this Friday, and as they were installing the Jasper 6.2 today, a strong gust of wind blew into the shop through the open garage door and literally bent my hood to the point where it won't close. After DumpsterGate last week I didn't think I would have...
Got a call from the service manager this morning that they had really high winds last night and a dumpster in their parking lot was blown into the side of my truck, resulting in some dents and scratches. They had the truck outside for just the night because they needed the bay for another...
