Cannot find a place to run wire through firewall (2011 tahoe)

I had an epiphany and ended up jumping the high beam wire to trigger the new light, no switch needed at all, just trigger brights.

Cannot find a place to run wire through firewall (2011 tahoe)

I found a factory grommet that I could use, just next to the brake booster, but I can't for the life of me "find" it on the inside. I am shining light through the hole as well. Nothing. I suspect that there are layers on the inside between the back of that hole and hte void above the brake...

How many features can be re-programmed in these trucks? Is there a list?

Anybody know if I can use the diablosport predatorX to do things on the BCM like remove the 2 button push requirement to open all doors?

    Snow performance - seriously impressed

I was driving my 2011 Tahoe in the Poconos over the weekend, between 1 and 2 feet of unplowed snow on main roads. Plows were trying but couldn't keep up. I'm running Cooper Discoverer AT3s* (3 peak snow rated) and had ZERO traction issues with the center diff locked. I went skiing at Jack Frost...

Is 15.2/15.1 volts when it's not that cold weird?

I know there's dynamic voltage charging with things like battery charge, cold, etc impacting how it responds, but 34 degrees F with a fully charged battery seems weird to stay at 15.1/15.2 volts for a 10 min drive. Is this going to fry something? Eventually it got down to a more reasonable...

    Different DOD/AFM delete/disable questions

I'm currently unable to get emissions tested because I forgot to take the AFM (range) device out a few days ago.

    Rear wheelwell rust bubbles...

I can get to the backside easily by taking off the wheelwell liner, I would treat that too.

    Rear wheelwell rust bubbles...

Just noticed this today... I can wirewheel/sand, but repainting will never look right without a pro. This is the only spot I've seen thus far.

    reattach door rub guard trim...

unfortunately, they now have bends in them... I might need to remove entirely, straighten, then reattach.

    reattach door rub guard trim...

what kind of adhesive is everybody using for this? Silicone seems crude, epoxy is too permanent... I need to also figure out how to hold pressure against it while whatever I use cures. Ideas?

Ox Locker in GMT900 with 3.42 gears?

Looking back no, I guess I just assumed. Agreed that front would be a better application, but even then, I'd say LSD for there too especially with "auto" 4wd being a thing on these.

Can't Remove Hitch Pin, Not Rusty

I'd spray some white vinegar in there a few times, then penetrating oil and start whacking it with a 3lb hammer. ... or just cut it off.

Ox Locker in GMT900 with 3.42 gears?

I had an Ox locker in the front of my '98 TJ Wrangler, it was fantastic. Never bound up, no special fluids, etc. Having said that, the rear of a (assuming) street-going tahoe seems like an odd application for it. I'd go gear-based limited slip over anything in this, eg Eaton Detroit Trutrac...

Hello everyone!!!! 2012 Tahoe manual transmission swap?

Just commenting because I love this idea. EVERYTHING is better with a 3rd pedal.

Describe to me how the 2-speed transfer case works... 2011 Tahoe 5.3

between the limited slip rear diff, new cooper ATs, traction control and 4Hi/4Auto, mine is great unless I turn all of that off and want to do donuts.

Describe to me how the 2-speed transfer case works... 2011 Tahoe 5.3

Nope, I got this one at 100k, well maintained but had an easy life. Used 4Auto/4Hihh a bunch in the snow this weekend, it definitely grabbed immediately in Auto, I'm pretty sure the clutches are in good shape. I recently changed all the fluids and the tcase fluid looked fine, no metal either.

Describe to me how the 2-speed transfer case works... 2011 Tahoe 5.3

The internal clutch application in the A4WD position is controlled by the transfer-case shift-control module (TCSCM), which sends a pulse-width-modulated signal in response to input from the wheel-speed sensors. The actuator motor turns a gear-driven actuator shaft, moving a clutch-application...

Describe to me how the 2-speed transfer case works... 2011 Tahoe 5.3

Coming from the jeep and Land Rover worlds, I understand their transfer case offerings well... School me on what's in my 2011 Tahoe (5.3, rear locking diff). Auto obviously engages the front diff but on the transfer case side, is it just an open center diff? Viscous coupling? Clutched center...

    Headlight bulb - H11 vs H13

Can you post some before/after pics? I'm not thrilled with my headlamps and was considering an H11 LED swap. Did you have to adjust anything or was it a like for like bulb swap (from halogen)? Any errors?

    Battery Replacement: What is required?

I've seen conflicting info on what the "factory" size is. Mine had a group 48 in it when I bought it, I replaced it with a slightly larger 94R, but had to loosen the radiator overflow tank to get it in there. It was tight, but did fit. thread here ->...

2011 Tahoe/Best dash cam for Chevy Tahoe

Have realistic expectations in the app for a (now sub $100) inexpensive camera, but for me it was good enough. If I really need to tinker with videos on the SD card, I just take the card itself out and use a laptop. 1 other thing with the Tahoe being always on with regards to the 12V outlets, I...

2011 Tahoe/Best dash cam for Chevy Tahoe

Dash cams are weird in that there are cheap ones that "work" (but the app/UI is unusably bad) or expensive ones ($500+) that work much better. I was looking for the sweet spot (4K front, app not absolutely terrible, but cheap enough that I can replace it if needed). I went through a few...
