I should add on hptuners* my matco scanner(launch based) is much different as far as setting adaptives. Ill try to add the hpt video so you guys have it as well. As far as inconsistent shifts/clunky downshifts its normal and they learn quick. Ill normally make a couple shifts then go WOT a few...
Ill try to cover the other replies later but any time trans related tables have changed you are supposed to reset the top 3 adaptives from top to bottom per hptuners video directly, so just an fyi
Im going to have to look at mine and compare so that maybe both of us have a better understanding/can see what the other has changed, id rather not give you false info lol. I know with the changes ive made mine has no delay on 1-2,2-3,3-4 whether its part throttle or WOT.
As much as I hate...
From what ive gathered off the hptuners video the # the guy likes to use is 140psi for line pressure, at at 150, tahoe ive also been tuning is 140 and more aggressive. Pressure does have to be able to support shift times which the fastest a stock 6l80 can shift is .20.
Originally I had started...
If i remember correctly the spark timing is the only engine tm left thats not completley disabled. Ill for sure have to look into it and lot it more. Do you recall what you set your torque adders to? And im unlocked TC 1-3 which im sure is softening the hit too
As far as shift feel I definitely...
Im with spareparts on this one.
In my opinion a fresh trans will live a longer life with properly set shift timing, pressures etc and an old clapped out trans will have more life if its already on its way
The reason is, pressure will put a greater load on the clutches that are there and in...
Im no expert but I can speak off of this. My old "race truck" was a 371 ls, backed behind a fully built 60e. Greg Nader (lead engineer of sonnax) worked with my trans builder trying out new hard parts, smarttec input drum, smartshell sunshell etc etc. My old tuner brandon ended up leaving tow...
Update. I forgot to respond yesterday, the tuners you listed are the ones I was going to send lol. Also im under advanced viewing, asked chat gpt to locate it and apparently we may have a different OS? Its no where to be found for torque ramp to immediate
4th revision:
Latest with ecm/tcm tm reduction
Seems like it recovers slower after shifting unless thats just me/road surface difference. It does feel much more consistently firm on part throttle though
Also spareparts, ill see if I can find the cam tuning video
Im 99% sure Sanford is who I used, ill check here shortly. Just went wot, feels odd. So hopefully I can post both clips. Still seems my 4th revision was best which makes zero sense
Ive always struggled with them lol, hp definitely is confusing especially with how so many things are hidden or intertwined. I did find some solid videos on tuning posted by hptuners themselves and a couple other guys for "burnout tunes" and gen 4 ls basics etc. If my tunes in my diesel weren't...
Much appreciated sir. I thought that was just the fast torque exit but ill for sure give it a whirl when im near it next.
Im also curious on trans input max if I were to go to 750 ft lbs what that would do. That was higher end of stock thats been deemed safe, I jumped up 36. Originally that...
Im already back home however ill do so hopefully this weekend. Just so that I understand what exactly does that change do? Also now its seeming to shift better. About the same firmness as before just quicker bur hey im all for improving. Hopefully I can test wot tomorrow lol
This was what...
I ended up truing .800 1-4 and it seems a bit quicker/less firm in a way? But the roads are wet and adaptives are fresh, ear wise it definitley sounds to click shifts off quicker.
I did just about fully disable engine tm, hopefully this loads, my service also isn't the greatest at the moment
Thank you sir, ill be back around it next Thursday and will check these values and compare!
The trans shifts pretty quick considering tm is untouched on my current tune. I tried posting the video but apparently its in the wrong format for our forum
Hey everyone, to tie back into my original post i ended up not being able to install the transgo as to i didnt realize its a FULL kit and the trans had to be dropped versus just vb.
Thankfully a month ago I did a little tune on my buddies 09, mainly trans function but some engine side
Fast...
They do have some differences. Your LY5 is a gen 4, pre 07 is gen 3. Other than sensors in different locations your reluctor wheel on the crankshaft has 58 teeth, not 24 how the gen 3 is. If you were to go through with the swap youd have to tune and or swap tone rings or change its tooth count...
Yessir thats my home track! Its still around and has changed a bit. They have the normal drag strip, area next to tech is a drift course and apparently they now do rc drag racing there as well. Ive never seen that truck run in person but I feel like I've seen it on the internet before...
By any chance were they the delco original/MLS? The aluminum/graphite style normally dont last long. Buddy had that 8mo after his lifter replacement
If its a metallic clanking buy a oil filter cutter off Amazon, pop the top and bottom aluminum shielding off and accordian the filter material...
In case it is more metallic and deeper(rods are hard tap/knock, mains are deep knock), loose torque converter bolts can replicate a bad rod bearing as well.
Its hard to tell from the video, almost sounds like an exhaust leak
Shot in the dark, old mechanics trick
Remove the serpentine and ac belt, fire it off and if the noise is still present then continue your search. Ive heard roached bearings in idlers tensioners make some sounds youd never...
