Depends on your budget, what it's going into, and how mechanically inclined you are. Those things rock right out of the gate. I'd be tempted to put it in the way it is. With a new tensioner of course.
I'm really liking this idea! Can they be smoked and still be basically legal and bright enough??
Other ideas along this line of thinking???

I think the Tahoes had the hinges outside the truck.? Not...
Been thinking the exact same thing. Probably a lot cheaper, at least until I can get what I really want.
Chip, I'm totally not sure. Are the 00 Escalades the new body style? I know the 02-06 sclades won't fit. I'm totally going to look into that. Let me know if come up with anything...
Chip, I looked at all of those. Not sure if any of them will work with the doors. Usually the listing says "barn door models". The problem is that the door hinge fits into a pocket in the lower part of the inside of the light, so the bottom part of the light is not functional. You can't see it...
Do you have the "barn door" style? I can find them for the lift gate. The photo I posted shows them on a barn door truck, so I know they make 'em. I'd like the smoked even better.
Thanks Steve.
Dude, I totally agree! I couple years ago we got a new couch. Made the carpet look old. AT least that's what my wife said.
Lights aren't currently in the budget though, and I haven't found the ones I really want. This is what I'm after, (see photo)
Thanks Dr. Ross!
Got the Esky rear vent caps on today. They went on pretty easy, but it looks like there is a slight contour difference in the barn door style compared to the lift gate design like whats on the Escalades. I tried to photo it in the garage but it didn't come out well. It's getting pretty crappy...
Thanks Jae, Whole new bumper. The metal part looks pretty similar to the original, except it has a bunch of holes in it for mounting the cover, and it's black.
Just got my parts back from paint. They came out great. It'll be a couple weeks before I can change the bumper. Too much to do at work. Thought I'd share a photo with ya'll though.
Yeah, me too! I'm in Michigan where the weather is crap. I'll wait another few weeks. Bought the stuff a while ago. I think I'll pull the front seats out if it's not a two day project. Looking forward to getting it done.
I bought a can on Ebay, then picked up a can at a local auto paint supply shop. I just Googled auto paint supply for my area. They had a color chart sample and all the colors in stock.
Not sure if this is your color, but you get the idea...
