    Diy catch can install

I bought 5' but you only need maybe 3 1/2', I'd buy at least 5' just in case. @ $1.69 a foot I would rather have a little left over than going back out to buy more. At first I ended up with not having enough length on the hose that goes to the valve cover to the can going thru the opening in...

Recs for better MPG pulling trailer?

Because the tuner tuned it with timing like he always does, it hit the ping/knock sensors to soon shown by the data log I did. So he took out a little more timing I did another data log, pretty much the same results, knock sensors. He then asked if I was running premium which that is all I've...

    Diy catch can install

I had to buy my own hose, which some of these catch can kits come with cheesy hose anyway. I used 3/8" fuel/vapor/PCV hose. I agree with you on installing at the alternator it's right on top of the power steering. Also the catch can will get much hotter at that location the engine heat transfers...

Resonator delete or MBRP full exhaust?

I've had the K&N since new I didnot notice much if anything. I did my AIR BOX mod when I ordered my EFI I had several days to drive it while waiting. This was early March 2013, Two thumbs up on just the Air Box mod. I did the same mod to my Dmax shortly after I bought it new. I don't know why...

6.2 what kind of mpg are you getting?

The main reason I went with EFI was the inconsistent trans shifting, plus my 6.2 was a dog. EFI took care of that along with having a little more power, then with my DIY CAI stock air box mod I have plenty of power now. http://www.tahoeyukonforum.com/forum/showthread.php?t=49875 I did the...

Resonator delete or MBRP full exhaust?

My Denali in sig sounds nice with a slight mean sound, since new, but was wimpy when I needed power. That's changed since I did a DIY CAI mod to the stock air box and added EFI, now its impressive to drive. NO MORE WIMP About 2 hrs labor to do the air box mod plus the cost of a K&N OEM...

Recs for better MPG pulling trailer?

I always suggest digging a little deeper in the pocket book and try premium for a couple tanks, one will not do. The computer takes a little time to adjust. Everyone I know that's tried this had always said performance and mileage gains was noticed. But if the budget is tight most would rather...

Get a catch can before any mods.

FOR EVERYONES INFO, The Catch Can new out of the box is NOT ready to install. The 4 Brass fittings are loose all 4 needs to be removed and then you need to put a good quality thread sealant on the threads then re-install and tighten them up. Plumbers tape or plumbers paste does not hold up well...

    Diy catch can install

The inlet port is on the top going to the back of the valve cover driver side. The outlet port is on the side going to the top of the engine intake. FYI When you get the Catch Can it is NOT ready to install out of the box. You should unscrew both ends and lube/oil the oil rings then...

Get a catch can before any mods.

I'm pretty sure I explained why I spent one hour, instead of the normal 20-30 minutes on a basic one shot install with everything cut and ready to go. 5 minutes from out of the BOX :sorry: BS meter just broke It was 2 minutes now its 5 minutes anyone that has installed one KNOWS BETTER. I...

Get a catch can before any mods.

On your first post/thread you might want to look at the pic one more time, you have the intake line connecting to the wrong fitting on the catch can. The top one is suppose to be connected to valve cover, not the side. So if I was going by your original post I would have the catch can...

    Diy catch can install

I installed mine this morning hopefully the info and pic's help others. It is pretty simple, just knowing a little more before you start helps. I apologize if the pic's are a little blurry and I hope you can make everything out. It's pretty simple, but knowing how to get the engine cover off...

Here is a picture of the area, several of us have been waiting for more pictures and info for several weeks, waiting no more. I'm doing a DIY with a little more info & pic's than what has been discussed on this thread.

Recs for better MPG pulling trailer?

Where are you buying gas that there is 40 cents per gallon difference between reg and mid grade. Out west at this time $3.59 for reg, $3.69 mid grade, $3.79 premium. Besides what outside temps are you in ? When your in +100 degrees pulling grades you just might get ping. Grades that are in the...

Recs for better MPG pulling trailer?

How you can tell if you have ping is to find a large grade and boogie up it. This is when you'll know. My gasser 1995 Class A Motor Home Ford F53 chassis with a 460 cu. in. with a 80 gallon tank, Ford and everyone shop states to only use regular. THEY ALL SAY DO NOT USE PREIMUM I'm sorry...

    MPG's gone to hell

Your the only one that would know the answer to your ? Take a look at it and determine from there, when was the last time you serviced your K&N ??? and how does it look ???? Then spray some MAF sensor cleaner (ONLY MAF sensor cleaner) on the MAF sensor, just follow the directions on the spray...

If it has a gas or Diesel engine then it has a closed PCV system, and yes it can be a problem. Some never have any issues or even think about it and some do.

Get a catch can before any mods.

I went to my dealer to look at a replacement dirty line, it has a 2" piece of 3/8" line on both ends connecting the plastic line. For a cleaner install those short pieces of 3/8" hose slips off then you just have a nipple on both ends to clamp the new hoses on each end. Then if you ever sell...

Get a catch can before any mods.

Yes that part I get, it's how does the factory dirty air/PCV hose disconnect it does not have any clamps. I just don't want to snap anything off trying to remove it. Dirty air hose is what the dealer calls it.

Ok my bad BigBlueLB756 was right just pull up the engine cover and work it out, but I would not go as far as to just yanking it up. My next question is I don't see any clamps of any sort just a larger hose over the smaller hose, how does the hose attach ?? Just slips on ?? It connects the same...

6.2 what kind of mpg are you getting?

I never thought about looking in the owners manual :insane: But I have search several ways online and only came up with a 6.0 grab ahold of the top cover and yank it up. This I was not going to do. Thanks again, Dan

6.2 what kind of mpg are you getting?

I would appreciate info on removing the top cover so far no one else has coughed up any reasonable info. ---------- Post added at 05:22 PM ---------- Previous post was at 05:20 PM ---------- Ok, thanks I'll check that out. This is a much better explanation than what I've been getting.

6.2 what kind of mpg are you getting?

YES, On my Dmax it was easy right in front of your eyes, I have not found a bolt/torque screw to remove on my 07 6.2 to remove the engine cover. Like I said one person said on the Catchcan thread to just jerk it off, I might be a Redneck but I'm not stupid enough to just jerk something off...
