Motor Trend large suv comparison

The Yukon didn't do all that great. Fuel economy, interior materials, seats all cons. Vertical display wasn't a plus. Expedition won. I think GMC should have used the regular Denali and not the Ultimate

It's not deterring me from ordering one. I will "fix" the economy with the diesel. I'm hoping to get used to the infotainment screen. I had an Arcadia with one as a loaner and didn't hate it. Seat comfort, if similar to the Sierra Denali Ultimate, I'll be fine with.

Just something I ran across today and figured I'd pass it along.

Isn't the Ford a brand-new design? How old is the GM design? Just wondering.

I've kinda gotten the impression, over the years, that the car magazines take turns between brands in their 'best of...' comparisons. It has seemed like the newest design usually wins, which kinda figures, I guess.

I’m actually not a fan of the bog portrait style infotainment in the Yukon. I greatly prefer the landscape orientation in the Tahoe. I see why they would write that.

what's interesting is that one doesn't see Expeditions on the road, but they are on the dealer lots. One sees tons of Tahoe/Yukon/Escalades on the roads, and until this year, not many on the lots (well in the Northeast, in Dallas there has always been 20 on the lot to our 0-2).

Then, it's hard to believe the Ford only offers 108.5 cu ft of cargo, significantly less than say a Chevy Traverse or Buick Enclave in the 2008-2016? era. Truly bizarre imho.

Imagine if we based our decisions on what a former magazine says lol

. What the magazines write in their reviews really means nothing, especially in comparison to personal preference of an individual buyer.

100% Agree who ever has the newest design wins. I pay zero attention to what magazines say I buy what I like. I dont know if this TV program is shown across the US but it called Motor Week all they cater to is foreign cars and talk bad about American vehicles. They will do a 0 to 60 time for a American vehicle to a foreign vehicle equivalent and the foreign vehicle will beat it by 2/10s of a second and they will report the foreign vehicle blew away the American vehicle in 0 to 60 times it just goes on and on on with the American vehicle bashing.

Yeah, 'Motor Week' seems aimed at people who don't know cars. 'Consumer Reports' is about as bad. It's treated cars like appliances since long before it started being true. I remember them criticizing Corvettes, and cars like them, for being tight and stiffly sprung.

Regardless of whatever happens between you vs the shot,
I'll take the new vehicle, turn around & sell it,
then buy at least two GMT800 Tahoes (maybe three) with the proceeds.

Didn't look like a Denali Ultimate to me - no speakers in the headrests.

This MT is the first review I've seen out of very many that likes the Ford haptic steering wheel controls, everyone else hates them.

At the end of the day, everyone will buy what makes most sense to them. I like the Yukon exterior and interior design more than the Tahoe/Suburban. I also get that others prefer the Chevy. I spent of bunch of time looking at actual failure percentages of each platform, that eliminated the Jeep and the Ford very quickly, and the Nissan is so ugly IMO, that it never made the contention list.

You are right. It was a Denali not Ultimate.

Motor Week? I've been watching it for decades (it records Sunday mornings for metro Detroit). I think it's pretty unbiased. Their road tests just focus on the vehicle with features and performance data. The 2026 Dodge Charger is their top car this year in their Driver's Choice Awards.

Consumer Reports have always been a waste of time for me. Often, what they see as flaws, I see as features. It is just a mismatch of what they think is good and/or important, and what I think is good and/or important. I will freely admit that my tastes are not mainstream, and Consumer Reports attempts to inform mainstream readers.

I think they're losing their "purity" too.

They now partner with sellers, for kickbacks; and Subaru is using their name in TV ads. They used to not allow their name to be used. They were "A Leading Consumer Magazine".
