2009 Escalade ESV, strange grinding sound / feel in floor board when taking off from a stop, can replicate the sound by shifting into drive, holding brakes and revving the engine to 1500rpm then the noise happens continuously until i drop rpm below 1500. Anyone have any clues? Just replaced the front diff and drivers CV axle thinking those were the problems but its still happening

I would drop the transmission pan and filter and see what you find....

I'm confused.

You can recreate the noise by revving the motor without moving, and without the driveline moving, yet you replaced two (expensive) driveline components thinking they might be the cause of the noise?

Metallic milkshake fluid and chunks of metal is why i did the diff, cv axle had play so assumed it was that, (stupidly) didnt try braking and revving until after I had swapped those 2 and noise was still present, ended up being the top 2 motor mount bolts missing

Wow! How did @Foggy diagnose that one?!!

And how are the top bolts missing??

Did someone replace motor mounts recently? (I forgot to tighten the mount to block bolts on one side when replacing mine.. )

Yea, as my other post said, I thought of mounts first but then it made no sense to me because of electric fans and no fan blade rubbing a shroud. Maybe the noise was exhaust related with pipes/manifold flexing? Hard to imagine that, especially with just the top bolts missing. The rest had to be loose.

If there was recent/localized work done in the engine compartment area, this is another example of incomplete info from the OP. If no work done, then why did the bolts come out?????

Still unsure how original bolts were missing, Ive had it for 2½ years saw on the carfax it had mounts done a year or so before I bought, whoever did the mounts got lazy and didnt even put the heat shield on I'm guessing the lazy a** either didnt torque to spec / didnt throw some blue loctite on them or didnt do either. Thanks all for input/help
