Hello, Olivier from France near Orléans.
I'm the new owner of a 2004 Tahoe LT 4x4 dark spiral gray #150000 miles.
After 40 years of driving it's my first American car and first V8 :)

it was bought new at "Jean Charles Automobiles" a famous US Cars dealer at Paris, it's an European version.
it joined my stable of BMW (Z3 and i3) and Peugeot (305 and 406) and replace a Renault Espace V6 as an holiday car.
I live in the countryside, so the size, particularly the width, is not really a problem.
the motor was modified to use LPG, which is cheaper hopefully.
I do all mechanical tasks on my cars, so this forum is full of valuable informations, big thumbs up to the community !

Welcome.

Even though that truck is 20 years old, that generation is widely considered the best of them. Yours looks great.

What's different on the Euro version?

Thank you for the welcome.
My Tahoe is not mint, but in good conditions, with some scratches and little dents on the paint.
the interior is OK too, with only a small tear on the driver seat side.

I use a VIN decoder to know the equipment of the Tahoe.
The country is CT1 for Belgium and not CU1 for France, but it was sell new in France the 10 November 2024.
I don't know what are exactly the differences for Belgium/France, the most obvious are the dash in km/h (big) and mph (small)

and the lights with orange turn signals and rear fog light.
I'm surprised by the bulbs, on the glass it's written HB4 for low beam, and HB3 for high beam.

it's OK for the low beam, but in fact the high beam is also a HB4, the socket and the plug couldn't accept a HB3.

in 2006 it was converted for added LPG carburation.
The gaz tank is under the rear floor, so the spare wheel is now in the trunk.

I'm working on a cargo cover, of which kind, soft in fabric, or hard in steel/wood, only time will tell...

The suspension is Z55 / 7XK / G69, the air compressor have been replaced some years ago, the dampers maybe not.
The rear seems OK, the front is sometimes too soft.

What is the usual practice for simple modifications and repairs, in this topic or in "under construction" ?

Usually when someone has a 2001-2006 guys will post here:
But sometimes people like to start an Under Construction thread when they're going to do a few modifications or upgrades on their ride. Totally up to you.

I saw Nascar on tv many years ago ;) unfortunately not now
The streets are ok near home, a Tahoe is probably too scary for other drivers
But in cities and parkings it's not the same story...

Near the Eiffel Tower… driving on a side street…. I was weaving left-to-right, avoiding car side mirrors...
…And I was driving a Renault Clio !! Got to love how everyone parks !!

Greetings from Germany (I never thought I'd be greeting a Frenchman)

I've been driving a Cadillac Escalade for about five years now, which is basically the same car as a Chevrolet Tahoe, with slightly different features. It's the best car I've ever owned. These things are incredibly durable and easy to repair.

With a CNG conversion, you can also drive very cheaply in Europe.

There are a few things you should do to the car, including replacing the O-ring on the oil pump, if it hasn't been done already.

I would recommend changing the transmission fluid, ideally using the oil cooler method. It can be done in half an hour with basic tools.

And you should take a look under the car. The brake lines tend to rust, and if they rust through, it's a very unpleasant job.

It's best to treat them with rust protection before that happens.

Otherwise, it's a great car in excellent condition.

After buying my 2005 Yukon XL, i sold my 1988 GMC C2500 to a happy fella in Germany.
He takes it to “American” car shows. ( I sold it through “ U.S. Cars “ )
