I posted this in my windshield replacement thread, but throwing it in here just in case someone her sees it that might not see/have a reason to be in the other section of the forum.

I had my windshield replaced and the only issue I have is that my intermittent/auto sensing wipers don't work. Not sure how I want to handle this. I did see it work maybe for 1-2 minutes on the first rain (about a week after install) since then it doesn't auto sense and/or work intermittently. Meaning, regardless if I have it on 1 2 3 setting it either doesn't work at all or it works at the same speed regardless on which setting I have. The highest setting works fine and is fast, but the selection where you can adjust the speed/frequency isn't working properly.

While this setting isn't often used, when I need it, it is annoying that it doesn't work.

Your people that replaced your windshield owe you getting it working...even if they have to sublet the repair to the dealer.

I have an appointment to bring it in so they can take a look, but the office manager, over the phone, said 'we've never seen this issue before, we don't know what it could be' and this was after speaking to the person that changed out the windshield (after puttng me on hold to ask).

Regardless, they need to work w/ the dealer to make it correct...don't take no for an answer...the moisture sensor is a bit finicky I believe...may require recalibration, or replacement and recalibration.

run some water over the sensor, see if the wipers come on, pretty simple test.
the sensor is right there by the rear view mirror, hit the front window with a garden hose

I haven't tried mine yet since the new windshield last Friday but I wouldn't care if it doesn't work. I don't really care for the feature. I don't have a problem of turning wiper on or just the pulse. I would never have ordered a High Country but it was used on the lot. Lots of things I never use or ever would want. Sunroof is just another example.

I found out the sensor wasn't working when it rained. Since the initial rain, there have been at least 5 other storms that I've driven through where I tested the sensor, it doesn't work. I would have not made this thread if I had not tested the sensor, respectfully.

Maybe you could try testing it, forcefully. Or even, rudely. :)

water over the sensor is the defacto test, along with disconnecting the battery for a couple minutes to reset everything
and a visual inspection to see if there is anything blocking or obscuring the sensor, like if the plastic cover is misaligned, etc.
maybe check the fuse.

nothing else anyone here can do to help you, otherwise you need a scanner on the vehicle to see if it is throwing any code, has communication, etc

I'll let them check all that stuff, thanks.

Did they replace the sensor module? Should be on the invoice and mine was like $300 and then they have to calibrate it correctly. If they did not replace the module it will never work correctly as according to GM it must be replaced if it is ever detached from the windshield.

It is listed as being replaced on the paperwork.

I brought it in (had appointment set) they looked at the sensor from the outside when I dropped it off and the installer said 'the sensor has to be replaced' they replaced it in about 5 minutes then asked me to come into their shop area to confirm the auto sense setting was on and they tested it with a water hose and the wipers activated. We did 3 tests while leaving the wiper switch in the same position and they only activated when they splashed water on the sensor/near the sensor area. It appears to be resolved and I will wait to see how it reacts next time it rains.

Mine works, new windshield last Friday. I don't remember the tech saying anything about changing the sensor. They had a problem recalibrating the camera but even that was completed finally. Rain sensor works as we had a couple of good storms yesterday.

The service manual for my 2018 doesn’t have a way to calibrate the sensor, only replace. Other sources say the sensor self-calibrates when it’s turned on.

I’m on my second windshield replacement in a year - once at a dealer and once with safelite - and neither invoice lists the sensor.

That’s not to say it wasn’t replaced…my rain sensing wipers do function normally.

i'm sure the T2's are different than the K2's as they have more nannies which equates into more sensors and less re-usable parts & modules.
they don't want you to be able to fix it yourself anymore and the newer vehicles are going to be really screwed when gm stops making new parts in the not to distant future.
when they move on to a new platform after a period time the previous platform are left in the dust.
the T2 platform may or can have one-time-use parts that cannot be relearned to a another vin, there is a little chip inside and when you start the vehicle is looks for a security link to each module, if that module doesn't report back with the right code it's locked out.
even something as simple as a tail light could possibly not be re-used. which modules exactly I am not sure but it's becoming a thing with gm.

Sounds like they don't want people buying their vehicles anymore.

there end game is for private vehicle ownership to no longer be a thing, they want the money coming in 24/7 not just vehicle sales, they want subscription money too
what they really want is shared public transportation and everyone pays....
it's kind of plastered around there various websites if you dig around online on gm's plan for the future there not hiding anything
