GM begins their various warranties (new-car, powertrain, emissions, etc.) based upon the “in-service” date and mileage.

If a dealer uses the vehicle but is is still under the MSO (manufacturer’s statement of origin), the warranties will begin when it is sold and titled.

If the dealer used the vehicle, but “sold it” to and titled it (even to their own organization - such as use as a rental), then the warranty began at the in-service (titled) date.

Manufacturer’s warranties do not begin the day the vehicle left the assembly line.
This is correct.

When I bought my 2024 Tahoe it had 400 miles on odometer and was used by a dealer in the same state as me but not my local dealer.
When I bought the Tahoe it had 420 miles ( thought that was a good omen) the odometer and they started the warranty from there and the date of sale ( I told the dealer to wait a couple days after I gave him deposit) so date of sale would be 4/20/2024

The numbers seemed pretty awesome Shoulda bought a lottery ticket but I never buy lottery tickets

Hello, sorry for the late response on this and thank you as 99% 0f the people actually know what they are talking about and the other 1% is where I fall in :) But the reason I made that statement because it is what GM Customer Care told me as to why they could not cover the repair on my 2020 truck last year despite it being under 5 years old and way under 60,000 miles. my Chevy dealer repair bill was $4,600.

@Sundancer i think the reason GM told you that is because the vehicle comes with a 3 year / 36 month bumper to bumper warranty (although in 2020 it may have been different) the other warranty is for smog or rust.

I got 10% off of MSRP IN September of 2025 for a 2025 new AT4 Ultimate without a lot of effort on my part. I went on Autotrader and opened the location filter to nationwide. There was one listed at about 8-9% below MSRP in Ohio I asked if they would do 10% below MSRP and they bit. I had to pay about $400 to ship it from Ohio to PA. New car with less than 20 miles spec’d out exactly as I wanted it. From first phone call/e-mail to delivery was about a week.

@LewL, did they ship it to local dealership?
I always wanted to know how that went and how the dealership handled the sale.

From Ohio to Pa I probably would have flown there not to save the shipping but I would like to see the car and drive it just because I always test drove before buying and I would have the oil changed as soon as I got home.

Nice work on the 10% off MSRP!
Even with all the issues discussed on this forum these are still in high demand and if you can get the options you want at 10% off that is awesome!

Shipped to my house. I interacted through phone and email. I wired the funds. They FedEx’d the title and paperwork and I took that to my auto title service company to handle the registration. Very simple and quick.
