What is the average dealership markup for a 2022 Yukon Denali? Just got quoted $10k markup

I didn't have that problem at all. Nor did the Mississippi dealership imply that when I called each day to make sure it was still there. Once you overnight them that cashier's check with the VIN number of the vehicle, they know you're serious... That's when the attitudes change and the ass kissing begins.
Oh, I bought out of state for sure, I got mine from Arkansas and had it trucked to Georgia, it was specifically Texas dealerships that wouldn't budge for me.

Cashier's checks are usually inconsequential now since these vehicles are movers and they'll sell regardless and the dealerships would prefer financing any day. I was ready to make a deposit and made it clear when talking to Texas dealers and they said no once I said I was out of state.

I got stuck with a $10k markup, but there was another salesman trying to sell the truck at the same time so I didn't have a chance to talk them down. It had everything I wanted with the only retrofit being parking sensors, so I was OK with it.

Mine was in a small town where almost everyone worked in a major factory. Lucky for me (bad for those local folk), most of those factories closed down because of covid, so no one locally could afford my Yukon AT4 - or so the salesman says. I tried buying it outright, but the manager was insistent on financing it. So he took my $60k deposit and financed the rest, thinking he'd make a little extra money off of me with the financing interest... Well I'm sorry to disappoint, because I literally just paid the vehicle off this past Saturday. So that additional $3k mark-up they added to the sticker is all they got out of me.

i contacted several around the dallas area earlier in the year and had one call me back a couple weeks ago - they were $6k over in Feb...i asked how they were pricing them these days....$7k mark up and $3k add on charge...so $10k over...

i probably contacted 20+ dealers over a span of several weeks back in Jan/Feb and only found one dealer that was at sticker out of state...several were a couple grand over with add ons but most were in the $4k-$6k over ( including several in rural MS - definitely wasn't expecting them to be over)

thought i had one bought in Tulsa and the salesman never mentioned a mark up when i specifically asked about it...when i asked to send the paperwork over it had a $5k adjustment added to it - called him back and he said that he was "just doing what he was told since I was out of state"...I'm a couple hours away from him in AR

got lucky ordering one from a (relatively) local dealer at sticker
I ordered from Classic Chevrolet in Grapevine back in January. They told us no mark up. I have the actually order with the price on it and I verified it last month because the banker wanted to know about how much would we be financing. But I still haven’t got my Tahoe. Just a run around.

the $10k over was Vandergriff in Arlington…

El dorado in McKinney was $6k over and Holiday in Whitesboro was $5k over. was leaning towards the one in Whitesboro until they offered $65k on our AT4 when fair trade in was over $70k

almost bought one down in Houston (lone star) that same week…they were $4k over and offered $73k on our AT4…this on the exact same vehicle that Holiday had

i think the salesmen are also trying to find someone to bite on the big markups since they get paid commissions on profit. A $10k markup probably equates to a $13-14k profit for the dealership…and most dealerships pay 25-30% commissions

we will probably order a 2023 soon, but our goal is to find someone accepting supplier pricing…especially with all the mailers we keep getting about it

I was wondering how the dealer makes money off of financing, I've always got financed through my credit union. None of their interest goes to the dealer.

financing through the dealer they make money all sorts of ways...bank offers the loan at 2% and the dealer tells the buyer the best they can do is 3% - making money off the spread...and then of course the whole quota targets that are paid out...finance through Capital one instead of Chase because Capital one pays a higher "per loan" rate and/or bonus for hitting a monthly/quarterly objective...

also allows them to play with the numbers some by offering a warranty at a certain percentage less than they'll offer without the warranty...bought a truck in Feb...best rate they offered was 2.25% at 72....but buy a warranty and they knocked it down to 1.72%

using financing outside of their lenders is the same as if you're paying cash

Don’t blame you. This is a joke. I called Vandergriff and they had the exact Tahoe I ordered. It was about 15,000 more than what I ordered. Luckily I got a price lock in.

I was lucky when I bought because GMC had a 36 month zero interest offer. I financed my balance after my trade in for 36 months. Sweet deal!

I paid my AT4 off just last weekend. But before I did that, the bank made sure they'd charge me and additional $300 in interests somehow. I just didn't want a payment at all, so I paid it off. Now the dealership will be in trouble with the bank because of the early payoff... Dealers typically gets dinged by the lender for early payoffs because A) The bank went through the "hassle" of creating the loan, and B) Neither the bank nor the dealership have the power to make long-term money off of you through inflated interest.
