Hi all I am brand new to the forum, I goofed and posted a couple threads without an introduction post. so here it is.
I have had a 2001 Suburban Z/71 for a while for a daily, it currently is just too rusty so I wanted to move on but it runs great and I love driving the truck. so i just bought a 2001 Tahoe LS with what I was told had a blown motor and plan on swapping the motor from the burb into the Tahoe. after getting the Tahoe home I threw a battery it it and it fired right up. however a loud knocking sound but pretty shure not the bottom end as I have great oil pressure. I have been wrenching on motors for many years and this definitely does not seem to be a bottom end issue, I hear these 5.3 have common lifter issues. may be that is the problem. need more troubleshooting, probably pull VC's and do a compression while I am at it. also has an issue and wont go into 4LO light comes on but truck won't move in f or r, and when 2wd is reselected it grinds a little and kinda crashes back into gear. so I got that to figure out as well. anyway glad to be here, I am a member of the Corvette forum as well for my C4. lots of great help on that page when I need to bounce ideas around on that.
