    “Sorting” our new 2005 esv.

i completed the fuel pump replacement method which was diagnosed by the dual lean bank codes and a very rich smelling exhaust. (ecm commands injectors to dump in fuel) i will use this thread to track all repairs to keep this machine in as new condition for wifey and kids. New code is for knock...

no codes. no more lean issue. exhaust smells normal. running smooth. problem solved.

2005 escalade esv with 6.0 and only 30psi fuel pressure

OK, i could NOT get the lock ring on using the access panel method due to strike angle in the 8x8" hole i cut being too steep. ordered lisle 63000 tool still wouldn't budge into the detents. won't go under the first crimp. tried original pump, wouldn't go. filed down the ridges on the lock...

on the escalade esv 2005 and the denali xl i dont think there is a plastic locking tab. im aware of the one you are speaking of. maybe its there and im not seeing it? just checked. they dont have it.

2005 escalade esv with 6.0 and only 30psi fuel pressure

update: new pump installed. carter brand. 62 psi. having a very hard time getting the locking ring the full way into lock. will be attempting to use an air hammer very gently to persuade that locking ring around. i opted for the “hatch” door method. It would have been much easier had i...

2005 escalade esv with 6.0 and only 30psi fuel pressure

Yeah. Very likely more than one issue. Can anybody verify that even with a huge vacuum leak the pump should be able to maintain 55+ psi on these returnless trucks? Its possible i have a huge vac leak (need my scanner for fuel trims) and also have a weak pump. it does seem very strange that...

2005 escalade esv with 6.0 and only 30psi fuel pressure

i would say zero chance of fuel leak. my nose is incredibly sensative lol. POSSIBLE weak signal but highly unlikely given condition of vehicle. no rust. (why i bought it). im starting to think clogged sock? as for codes, my understanding is it works like this, pls correct if im mistaken...

2005 escalade esv with 6.0 and only 30psi fuel pressure

i do trust the gauge. here is why: this 05 esv escalade is replacing our 06 denali xl that was tboned but still runs and drives no problem. i have the two trucks side by side. same engines other than domed pistons on the lq9. denali is 56psi steady, no codes all is well. escalade as...

2005 escalade esv with 6.0 and only 30psi fuel pressure

2005 escalade esv awd lq9 6.0 just bought it. exhaust smelled rich. both banks lean. diagnosis i discovered 34 psi fuel pressure at idle. im fairly sure from my searching it should be +- 60psi. from what ive read, there is NO fpr. or at least its built into the pump. couple...

Obd2 port not communicating and very rare no crank condition

2006 Yukon XL Denali with 300,000 miles. Do you guys think it’s possible that these two things are related: An OBD2 plug failing most of the time, getting stuck on a 53% boot or load on the scanner, and secondly a very rare no crank condition is experienced in our car? The obd2 situation is...

Does the thermostat housing have a paper gasket?

I re-did it with hylomar. all good. it is by far the best sealant out there. aerograde and for a reason. anyway, it wasn't paper in the valve. it was rubber from the tstat itself that had somewhow come loose and lodged itself. i agree 100% about paper gaskets. few years back i refurbed an...

Does the thermostat housing have a paper gasket?

thanks for this. i am a huge fan of this stuff called hylomar. used correctly you can have a metal to metal gasket that will last forever. its a non setting compound. if this starts to leak again, i will pull it apart, save as much coolant as i can, and use the hylomar on it and it will be...
