thanks guys. ive compiled a large rock auto order to crank this all out in a weekend.
really appreciate the tips and suggestions!!!!!! it is the difference between “gotchas” and “smooth sailing”.
hey dub, i dont suppose you are the same dub as over on corvetteforum?
i completed the fuel pump replacement method which was diagnosed by the dual lean bank codes and a very rich smelling exhaust. (ecm commands injectors to dump in fuel)
i will use this thread to track all repairs to keep this machine in as new condition for wifey and kids.
New code is for knock...
OK, i could NOT get the lock ring on using the access panel method due to strike angle in the 8x8" hole i cut being too steep.
ordered lisle 63000 tool still wouldn't budge into the detents. won't go under the first crimp.
tried original pump, wouldn't go.
filed down the ridges on the lock...
on the escalade esv 2005 and the denali xl i dont think there is a plastic locking tab.
im aware of the one you are speaking of.
maybe its there and im not seeing it?
just checked. they dont have it.
update: new pump installed. carter brand. 62 psi. having a very hard time getting the locking ring the full way into lock.
will be attempting to use an air hammer very gently to persuade that locking ring around.
i opted for the “hatch” door method.
It would have been much easier had i...
Yeah. Very likely more than one issue.
Can anybody verify that even with a huge vacuum leak the pump should be able to maintain 55+ psi on these returnless trucks?
Its possible i have a huge vac leak (need my scanner for fuel trims) and also have a weak pump.
it does seem very strange that...
i would say zero chance of fuel leak. my nose is incredibly sensative lol.
POSSIBLE weak signal but highly unlikely given condition of vehicle. no rust. (why i bought it).
im starting to think clogged sock?
as for codes, my understanding is it works like this, pls correct if im mistaken...
i do trust the gauge. here is why:
this 05 esv escalade is replacing our 06 denali xl that was tboned but still runs and drives no problem.
i have the two trucks side by side. same engines other than domed pistons on the lq9.
denali is 56psi steady, no codes all is well. escalade as...
2005 escalade esv awd lq9 6.0
just bought it. exhaust smelled rich. both banks lean. diagnosis i discovered 34 psi fuel pressure at idle.
im fairly sure from my searching it should be +- 60psi.
from what ive read, there is NO fpr. or at least its built into the pump.
couple...
2006 Yukon XL Denali with 300,000 miles.
Do you guys think it’s possible that these two things are related:
An OBD2 plug failing most of the time, getting stuck on a 53% boot or load on the scanner, and secondly a very rare no crank condition is experienced in our car?
The obd2 situation is...
I re-did it with hylomar. all good. it is by far the best sealant out there. aerograde and for a reason.
anyway, it wasn't paper in the valve. it was rubber from the tstat itself that had somewhow come loose and lodged itself.
i agree 100% about paper gaskets. few years back i refurbed an...
thanks for this. i am a huge fan of this stuff called hylomar. used correctly you can have a metal to metal gasket that will last forever. its a non setting compound. if this starts to leak again, i will pull it apart, save as much coolant as i can, and use the hylomar on it and it will be...
I checked this morning after the install and it was actually dry. perhaps it was just moist from the install.
i'll check later today again after running it.
the heat issue is definately fixed. that rubber had lodged in there and kept it flowing all the time.
2006 yukon xl denali. 264000 miles.
the truck wasn't warming up very well so i pulled the tstat. a chunk of the pistons rubber seal had come loose and lodged itself in a way that didn't allow it to close. there was also a paper gasket on the housing.
have the new tstat and it didn't come...
i need a few more years out of my denali xl.
i have rust coming on all 4 fender wells.
anybody successful at installing fender flares on a denal xl?
from the sounds of it there may be some custom plastic wor required to cut the flares before the oem cladding which id be fine doing but id...
true. in fact OP you should get the shop to do a leakdown test. that will tell you with 100% certainty if its a cracked head or head gasket.
also, something i had recently was a crack on the driver side of the radiator. inswapped it out for a spectra.
i dont see the connection between the ac and the headgasket.
compressor turns on and then uses up some of the cool air and starves the rad for cool air?
can you verify that your denali overheats without ac on?
IF IT is your head gasket you would be seeing temps climb up while stuck in...
when I punch my 2006 Yukon XL Denali 6.0, I do feel a bit of a shutter. But it feels to me like it might just be worn frontend parts or worn suspension
hey you have a Corvette servo? How is your 1-2 shift?
I was told by the transmission shop that if I requested a Corvette servo, my wife would make me take it out. Because the one to shift would be super jerky. He said that the 4L 60 E in my car took care of that and all I needed was a trans go kit
