I think that mine look fantastic, but they're kind of a ***** to wash...so many little nooks/crannies/angles to deal with! Definitely glad I got them ceramic coated, that helps a bit.
Yes, they serve two different functions. Ceramic coating doesn't really protect you against scratches & chips (it does help a tiny bit, but not that much). It makes the paint more slippery so that water beads off and dirt/bugs/etc. don't stick as hard (a foam cannon + light wipe is all it takes...
Wow, I was going to say why don't you just do a headlight restoration kit on them (I've had really good luck with the Cerakote kit, and my dad also with the 3M kit). But then I saw the price you paid for new ones...if you factor in the cost of such a kit and your time, you probably saved money...
