Just an update. I got 21650 delivered just now and while it is also 34” for the core length, it’s only 1.10” thick. My current radiator (which would be 21647, aside from the length discrepancy in the part description) is 1.37” thick.
I learned that lesson a while back with a blend door actuator I needed for the rear HVAC. It felt like every number I kept pulling up was superseded by another GM #. It doesn't help that the vehicle is > 20 years old now and parts have been reused across generations but it is what it is.
I'll...
Thanks for the info, everyone. I went ahead and ordered #21650 off RA (GM #22840117).
I also went ahead and ordered #21647 (GM #19256745) just so I wouldn't have an issue with everything already ripped apart. Been there, done that too many times: I'll lose out on shipping charges to return the...
2005 Z71 tahoe. Part number on the original radiator is 15124630. Searching online tells me this number was superseded by 19256745, though I am unable to cross reference this number with anything on RockAuto.
For GM Genuine radiators, there are three options for my year on RA. I do not have the...
I haven’t been under a GMT900 in a while, but in my GMT800 I chased down a creak/squeak at low speeds for the longest time (only really noticed when I was in the drive thru at the pharmacy and could hear the noise bounce off the wall, now that’s all I hear).
Ultimately found that the parking...

Replaced alternator with a reman unit from NAPA earlier this year under warranty
I got out of the tahoe to check the mail and heard this whining sound and wasn’t sure if this is cause for concern or if it’s “normal” in remanned units. I figured it shouldn’t make any noise but just...
I’ve been chasing a popping sound coming from the driver’s side while turning in/out of parking spaces and while accelerating from a stop with the wheel turned. Replaced a bunch of suspension parts as part of a pre-planned overhaul project and was half hoping the issue would have been resolved...
When I received the control arms, the boots for both lower ball joints looked completely dry and were somewhat folded / creased on themselves. The zerks were also not pre-installed but I’m sure there’s a way for the manufacturer to pre-grease the joints. What is throwing me off is that the...
Long story short, I overhauled the front suspension on my 2005 tahoe when I hit 200k miles. I had torn lower ball joint boots, etc. so I figured I would just go at it all and give the front end a new start. When I installed the lower control arms (Moog CK620380/CK620381; purchased from RA), only...
Well, I replaced the GM ISS with a Dorman one this morning. No more clunk. I’m sure I got a one-off dud of a u-joint from GM but I’m still not happy about it.
(Side note: I also replaced the steering bearing with a GM one when I replaced the steering shaft the first go around. Sorry, I should...
Recently replaced my intermediate steering shaft with a new GM (19329330) part and this thing has way more slop in it than the beat up one it replaced. I read around on the forum and saw the ISS design was updated at one point in time but wasn’t sure if this was considered the new “normal” with...
What type of creaking? Is it like a door hinge creak (dull creak) or like when plastic rubs (higher pitched)? Not to question your mechanical ability at all, but was the bearing pushed fully into the column? And did you ensure that the steering wheel did not turn during the job?
I just did the...
Just some additional info for anyone that may be reading this thread in the future, and who enjoy even more conflicting reading material:
Project Farm did a demo on whether HM oils were "better" than regular oils.
While his experimental designs are somewhat robust, he is unable to simulate...
All parts replaced during the fuel pump job were GM, ordered through RA. When the new GM canister threw pellets, I replaced it with another GM canister.
I'll test the vent valve this evening and poke around the filler neck area if the vent valve tests fine.
Thanks again for the input!
