Front End Clunking and Bump Steer (i think).

For anyone wondering. I finally got around to the steering rack and it solved 95% of the issue. Good enough for now. I suspect the lower steering shaft will need to eventually be addressed too. The boot on the U joint has been torn for years.

Front End Clunking and Bump Steer (i think).

I haven’t touched too it much since posting, this Louisiana heat and humidity has been brutal. I did recheck the upper strut mounts and they seem to be fine. I’m fairly sure it is the steering rack. There’s noticeable up/down play on both sides when extended. I think is what I’m feeling. The...

Front End Clunking and Bump Steer (i think).

Yikes! I removed one of the struts while replacing the UCA and nothing stood out but I’ll double check the top mounts. I’m curious what that relay in the pic is for. Is that a NNBS?

Front End Clunking and Bump Steer (i think).

I’ve started pricing racks and there’s not a lot of options as far as I can see. Cardone, BBB Industries, etc. Both reman. and new but the general consensus is that theyre all junk. I’ll have to look into having my rack rebuilt, it’s not a daily driver so it can sit for a while if I can find...

Front End Clunking and Bump Steer (i think).

The first front end overhaul was Delco Pro or Gold, whatever they called it at the time. They were still fine other than torn boots. The most recent replacements are Delphi. The quick struts were Monroe (OeSpectrum or something like that). Nothing fancy. I have replaced the drivers side hub...

Front End Clunking and Bump Steer (i think).

Hope this is the right place to post, but I have a 2007 Yukon SLT 142k mi. Owned since 2010 w 33k mi. I don’t drive it a lot roughly 7k mi/yr. Prior to this issue this is the last suspension work I did. 2016: New LCAs New Front Quick Struts New outer tie rod ends New Sway bar end links and sway...

Should this pre-purchase inspection be a dealbreaker?

Thanks for the input! I definitely looked for CPOs and very few came up. Locally we have close to no inventory new or used. We briefly considered new but couldn't justify the price.

Should this pre-purchase inspection be a dealbreaker?

I purchased a used 2020 Yukon SLT with 24k mi. at Carmax for $54k. We flew across the country to pick it up and drove it back home where I could take it to a trusted mechanic to do an inspection. The B2B warranty expired in July but there's almost 2 years and 34k mi left on the powertrain. I...

Front passenger wheel randomly locked up on right turns.

Everything is stock including the 20in. wheels. I definitely heard and felt the tire dragging/skipping. The odd thing is the turns I made weren't at full lock. I have however always had the tire chirping when I cut the wheel hard pulling into parking spots. I consider that a wake my wife up to...

Front passenger wheel randomly locked up on right turns.

An intermittent sticking caliper did cross my mind. I'll have to pull it, inspect it and check out the pad wear, then take the wait and see approach. It's so much easier for me to over complicate things and assume it's the most obscure problem I can think of lol. I did the front pads and rotors...

Front passenger wheel randomly locked up on right turns.

I was making a right turn from a stop and when I accelerated (under 10mph) my right front tire felt like it was skidding on gravel and chirping like it was being dragged. I wrote it off as maybe road debris. The next right turn the same thing happened while decelerating into the turn. On the...

ZW7 rear struts for ‘07 Yukon

I hope I’m posting in the right place. I have a 2007 Yukon SLT w/ 128k. I rebuilt the entire front end at about 90k. I’ve been nervous to touch the bouncy rear other than the stabilizer links because I kept getting conflicting info on whether or not I have Nivomat self-leveling struts (I don’t...

    2007 Yukon..Hard Shifting.

Thanks for responding! I had a brain fart when trying to think of the word auxiliary lol. This makes a lot of sense. Drove about 30mi today with no problems... fingers crossed. I need her to last another year or so since there’s not a lot of inventory here for used full-sized trucks.
