    Massive A/C oil confusion.

Here’s the info from a 98 manual, it covers how much oil to add based on what parts are replaced. The way that I interpret it, you’d need to drain and measure the oil from the old compressor. The new one would have the same amount but not less than 2-oz. Maybe others can verify.

    1996 Yukon radiator recommendation

Just a heads up, most aftermarket radiators have a port that is not used on the 5.7 vortec. They’ll install a cheap rubber cap that will crack and leak after a while. The one in the picture was maybe a month old. So, replace it with a silicone cap and it should be better. Or, get a...

What did you do to your OBS GMT400 Tahoe/Yukon Today?

Dang, where does it keep failing? I’m on my second since new so maybe I just got lucky.

    1999 Tahoe BCM

It was used on the Escalade and Denali and is buried under the center console. You wouldn’t have one.

    New to the forum

Here’s the wiring diagram for the starting circuit. With someone holding the ignition in start, check for voltage on the small purple wire at the starter. See if that wire is even intact - I’ve broken two during starter replacements. If no voltage there, start checking further back - the...

    1999 5.7 Vortec problem

If you had instant fuel pressure loss, I would guess a leaking or stuck open injector is washing fuel down the cylinder walls. Pull the plugs to see which one is wet or which cylinder is full of fuel. I wouldn’t try to start it again. Get the oil drained out as well. I’d fill and drain a few...

1996 Tahoe 2 dr. Dash Rear Wiper and Hatch switch lights not working?

I had some leftover from an eBay replacement radio light kit and used them on the switches. It’s been a few years, but this was them - Eiko 7219. They didn’t have the blue rubber sleeves that the switch bulbs had.

1999 Chevy Tahoe Rear Hatch Latch

Here’s a site with the original GM part numbers, maybe it will help in sourcing a used part. https://nemigaparts.com/cat_spares/epc/chevrolet/54c-k/17/tc17-009/

1999 Chevy Tahoe 4x4 Crank - Will Not Start - SOLVED

Thanks, that helps. I see it now in the 1st edition C/K book but they deleted it in the 2nd. But mine still has the blurb about the oil pressure switch powering the pump. I guess the revision made sense to someone at the time, lol.

1999 Chevy Tahoe 4x4 Crank - Will Not Start - SOLVED

Hey, What page was that diagram with the oil pressure switch? I looked all over my manual (1998 2nd edition) and couldn’t find it but knew that I’d seen it somewhere before.

1999 Chevy Tahoe 4x4 Crank - Will Not Start - SOLVED

On my 98, the pump test wire is red with a white connector on the end. Just put battery voltage to it and see what happens. It’s at the driver side firewall. Here’s the wiring diagram. With a meter, check for voltage at the relay terminal coming from the fuse (87) and also the VCM relay...

    P1860

Here’s the diagnostics for a 98, maybe it’ll be close enough for a 99. It references a Kent Moore harness (J-39775) for testing. Sometimes you can get a good deal on used Kent Moore tools on eBay, but a quick Google search returned this post from someone that managed to test without it...

99 Yukon slt interior light problem

The GM manual will have the diagnostic procedures for the interior lights. The manuals can be downloaded here, go to post #77 for the 1999 links: https://www.gmt400.com/threads/88-98-service-manuals.43575/page-8

    #5 and #7 misfire

I’d agree, check that one off of the list. A lot of aftermarket distributors come with those fixed clamps. In case you need it, the GM part number is 10096197. If you’re junkyard shopping, the same part number is used on the 305 and 350. Not used on the 4.3.

    1995 Yukon High Idle

Is it happening only when the brakes are applied (brake booster)? GM published diagnostic procedures in the manual. The link is in post #6, but here is an example from the 95 manual:
