    Dead battery / parasitic drain

I took my 2009 Tahoe in to the dealer because 2 other places didn't help me with the problem. The mechanic explained that the first owner had installed an aftermarket remote start. Somewhere in the module, there was a short circuit, most likely from vibration over the years. It sounded logical...

    Dead battery / parasitic drain

I replaced the battery and the alternator, and the situation remains the same. As someone said, if it's in the garage while changing the alternator, it won't do it when I leave the parking lot because of the heat from the building. I had a fender bender last fall, and I thought maybe one of the...

    Boat Tow

I was on the Walleye Central forum searching for the formula used to determine the amount of tongue weight needed to pull a boat safely. Someone chimed in and said that I should be looking for about 6-10% of the total weight of the rig. For my boat, it was 115 lbs. He also said that I should...

Jack crank access hole cover in rear bumper

Thank you! I just Googled for the part and I found a replacement on the GM parts website. It comes in basic black so I'll have to look up the color code from the glove box and get some touch up paint.

Jack crank access hole cover in rear bumper

On a 2009 Tahoe, what is everyone using to keep the jack crank hole cover in the rear bumper in place. I recently used it to lower the spare tire so I could replace the 2 clamps that hold the parking brake cable in place on the sway bar. Since that time, I reset the cover in the right place...

    Cruise Control

Thanks for the advice. I ordered a new switch from Rock Auto and it arrived this morning. A 10mm socket and a screwdriver is all your need to swap out the old and put in the new. The hardest part is if you're a tall guy like me is how the get down under the dash to do it. I got my exercise in...

    Cruise Control

Anyone have a problem with their cruise control cutting out after going 20 miles the road. When the engine is cold and I start out, it works fine. Suddenly, when I'm going at highway speeds, it cuts out. Any suggestions?

How much drop do I need?

I had a 2006 Yukon with 17" tires and I flipped a 2" drop ball mount to get the right hitch height. Now I have a 2009 Tahoe with 20" tires and I need to get down to 18: hitch height. How much drop do I need?

Which Oil filter do you use.

I'm moving up from a 2006 Yukon to a 2009 Tahoe. The owner's manual says I should use a GM 48 filter or equivalent. My old Yukon took a GM 46. Can someone tell me what the difference is? I held them both side by side and I can't find any difference. Thanks in advance.

Transmission in gear, Truck won’t move.

Have you tried putting it in 4 wheel drive? The same thing happened to me. I pulled off the interstate and stopped at the light. Light turns green, I go nowhere. I was on a downhill slope so I could push it away from the intersection. I called for a tow truck. When the driver got there, he asked...

    Coolant Loss

On a 2006 Yukon with 5.3 engine, I've been losing about half gallon of coolant every couple weeks. The oil in the crankcase gets dirty and the pressure goes down to about 30. If I change the oil, the pressure goes back to normal for about another 1500 miles. My thought was a bad head gasket. Any...
