L87 Failure - Taking formal action

I briefly outlined my failure scenario in this post. Here is my plan to request that GMC deal with the situation BEFORE I have a safety issue at speed. My Argument: “GM’s known defective L87 engine is continuing to generate objective wear evidence after the recall remedy, and GM’s own recall...

Yup. The air suspension is the entire problem. Totally undamped. (I sell race shocks so I have experience with this)

Assumption 1: I'm not stressed. Assumption 2: Dealer is not going to give a new engine. Do I like the vehicle? Well ... about that... Setting the engine aside for a moment. I have the air suspension. There is zero damping.. none. The "shocks" feel liek they are blown. It clunks over...

UOA and Filter photos of L87 time bomb.

Let me tell you an L87 story, with documented evidence of how bad these engines are. My 2024 Yukon Denali is just over 2 years old with 20k miles on it. Passed the Pico Test at its first post-recall service. At that time the oil was changed to 0w-40 and got the new cap. 2500 miles later I...

BREAKING: GM is officially recalling the L87

Scroll back a few pages. I posted my analysis. And yes, you will be able to see it coming. I plan to do an analysis after every one of my oil changes which I'll be doing at 3000 mile intervals. Also Lake Speed did a couple videos on this recall and the benefit of analysis.

BREAKING: GM is officially recalling the L87

Service Manager where I went told me he had 16 L87 in and tested this month and 4 failed. Not a huge sample size but 25%

BREAKING: GM is officially recalling the L87

Mine went in this morning and it passed. 10,500 miles and a 40wt. filler cap. It has now had 4 oil changes. This should be enough changes to have flushed out all "break-in" material. I will be doing oil analysis and changes every 3000 miles. Will be watching those wear metals like a hawk !

BREAKING: GM is officially recalling the L87

I will be pulling samples at 13,000 and 16,000 and submitting to Lake for analysis.

BREAKING: GM is officially recalling the L87

OK here is the first oil analysis I've done on this truck. I use this service on both my race cars and never thought I would need it on the tow vehicle  This sample was from after removing the dealer changed 0w-20 that was put in around 7000 miles during it's "first scheduled service"...

Even if you dont "qualify" ...just ask and you'll likely get it. Ask me how I know. I flew into MI from PA to get mine with this discount.

BREAKING: GM is officially recalling the L87

Thx for repeating your answer, I do appreciate it. 80+ pages was too much to get through. and Agreed... I would think that the root cause would affect every L87 engine made in that St. Catherine's engine plant. Unless they had multiple L87 production lines there and the tooling...

BREAKING: GM is officially recalling the L87

I saw a 3% failure rate somewhere. Say it's double or triple that in the end... How can something so catastrophic as a crank / bearing manufacturing issue affect only a small % over multiple years? I read many... but not every post here so apologies if this was addressed.
