Seems like oil shear after it's got some miles on it is a topic where everyone wants to whistle past the graveyard.
I change the oil on my daughters 25 Equinox every 4k miles.
Overkill? Perhaps, and it does not look that bad coming out of the pan, but it runs out of the pan like water.
Being on my third Yukon XL, swore up and down I would replace it with another XL. I am starting to lean towards a Sub for several reasons.
Chevy is much better at letting you pick and choose certain options, for instance the trailer/tow package. With the Yukon you have to get either Super Cruise...
The main issue with buying an existing model for me personally is that the odds are I will never find the exact color and option configuration I want. But that's on me because I have a very specific build in mind.
It's honestly about to the point on anything put out these days, that folks like us who could trouble shoot about anything with a good diagnostic tool are only going to be able to do basic things like service work. Don't get me wrong, I enjoy things like oil changes, brake jobs and such, but I...
True, but the warranty as I understand it is transferable. This may increase your trade in at a dealer but it's also an asset selling private party. If I pull the trigger on a new Yukon this year, I plan to drive it to at least 100k miles, and will purchase the GMMP plan to cover it until around...
I'm getting pretty close to pulling the trigger on a new Yukon XL, Elevation with a lot of goodies.
This will be Yukon XL number 5 for me, and I've only ever had a 5.3
Yes, the 6.2 would be nice but frankly I just don't need a Denali, don't tow that heavy or often, and don't want to worry about...
It happens. Been there, done that. I had to bring my Yukon to a shop for the first time in over 25 years last week. Didn't have time or a spare vehicle like I normally do.
FWIW, these trucks don't have a power steering pump like was mentioned earlier.
I thought the same thing but it's gunky build up, just appears like shavings in that picture.
My initial thought was that rocker was starving for oil but that is not the case.
2017 Yukon XL--L83
Long story short, I did a delete back in April, probably around 10k miles on her now.
BTR stage 1 cam with stock lifters, push rods.
New bare heads that I assembled.
CHP trunnion kits
New OEM injectors
UPR catch can
Been running like a bunny since the day it was tuned. Fast...
Made the switch to Mobil 1 ESP on my '17 5.3 after I did the delete, currently at 154k miles and doesn't burn any between changes.
My mpg actually increased, but I think part of that is the fact I had to have it tuned after the cam swap, and had it tuned for 91 octane so those savings are offset...
Exactly this. 0W20 is not that weight after it's sheared down over time, and these DI engines are already prone to some fuel dilution. I run Mobil 1 5W30 ESP in mine, and changed the fill cap to the same weight.
2004 would have a master spline, not? When I rebuilt the T case on my 07 (SLT) a few years ago before I sold it, the output shaft had one master spline. Or is the AWD a different design?
That is not out of the ordinary for that era, and that is not that bad with 100* ambient temps.
How is the fluid? These are easy to do a line flush right at the trans cooler, replaces all the fluid without dropping the pan.
That said, I would only do that if I knew the filter was replaced at...
