It wouldn't surprise me if people have installed x aftermarket part, but was there a factory option to have a bigger gas tank? My manual says it has a thirty gallon tank but it seems more like the mid twenty range. The gas gauge hasn't worked since I was little so I can't compare when I fill up now to when the gauge worked. Might there be a code in the manual or in the glove box or something to check on this?

They come with 30 gallon tanks. The suburbans came with a 44 i believe but that's it. Unless you run it completely out and dry, you won't pump in 30 gallons. The gauge probably reads empty at 26 gallons to be safe.

chevy lied about the gas tank size in these models. the said it was 30 gallons but it was considerably less. after the class action lawsuit the brochures read 'about' 30 gallons. i have never been able to fill up more than 28 gallons but i never ran it out of gas. i don't think there was an option for a bigger tank.

Uumm mine has a 26 gallon tank and ive ran mine completely dry and been able to pump 25 gallons into it and some change but thats only if ive literally ran out of gas and the engine stopped
was a 30 gallon tank a option or do the new tahoes come with a 30 shit im not sure if id want a 30 gallon my 26 gallon is roughly 60 70 bucks to fill up right now so 30 would be 80 easy
id hate to have to fill up a 44 gallon thats like 100 dollar bill every time to go to the gas station when you use yer card most pumps cut off at 100 bucks

I only ask because like I said it seemed more in the twenties and I'd always assumed 22. It seems to me that they hold about 26 gallons max though which is good to know.

I have driven mine down to 28+ before getting nervous to stop off the freeway for gas. Don't worry so much if you refill about 25-26 gallons each time. You would still heave a few to spare.

i am getting a only in new jersey kinda feeling. on the other hand, what a crock. it not like it effected their mileage. did anyone stop to think that the suspension profile effects the filing of the tank at a gas station. or the fact that new equipment was put in in '98 and newer models that could effect readouts. a new pcm program comes to mind.

it doesnt affect the mpg but it does affect the range. especially if the tank holds 5 gallons less. thats 85 miles less per tank. at this point it doesnt matter anymore but it was ****** of them to lie about it.
