Hi, I don't know if this has been answered before so if it has feel free to delete.
My question is: I see that everyone is running the 2.5 inch CCM kit but I also see that they offer a 3 inch and it says that it will fit Tahoes and Yukons as well as the 1500 trucks. Is there a reason that nobody is talking about the 3 inch? I would rather have that extra .5 inch to clear 33s without worrying about rubbing on my 2011 Tahoe z71.

Thanks!
Brett

If you do a bit more digging/reading, anything past 2.5" up front will **** up your CV Angles in a bad way. I did a 4/3 leveling kit and changed out the UCA's to help, but since I have 33x12.50R22 Toyo Open Country MT's, it STILL rubs @ full lock on my '11 Yukon 4x4.

Anytime buddy! I had a 2.5/1.5 on my avalanche and it looked perfect and didn't rub when I had factory 20's with some not as wide Nitto Terra Grapplers.

With the CCM 2.5"/1" level kit, will the truck squat (cali lean)? I have an 08 Z71 Tahoe. I definitely don't want the squatting look - but it seems to be the most common level kit from CCM. Right now I'm running 265/R18 AT tires - but would definitely like to upgrade to a 285 with meatier tread.

Just don't want the truck to look lower in the rear if I buy this leveling kit as opposed to say a 2.5"/1.5" setup.

Any advice would be great. Thanks!

Mine was 0.25" higher in the rear with the 2.5/1, but just eye balling it the front slightly looked higher depending on terrain/angle. If you are concerned about that, just get the 2.5/1.5. IMO looks better with a slightly higher rear and won't be lower than the front if you are carrying a load.

I now have an airlift bag in the back which gives me 1.5 to 2" at the back.

Thank you sir! I rarely carry a load bigger than my two 90lb labradors, so hopefully the 2"/1" is will be good. If it ends up being too low in the rear, I can always buy just the 1.5" rear spacers on eBay or something down the road.

Another concern with the 1.5" rear lift is getting in and out of my garage - and I definitely want to be able to park in there.

I'm pretty sure you will still fit in the garage. I don't have a big garage at all and I have the 4" up front and 3" spacer in the rear with 33's and it fits just fine.

Your garage height must be insane! I measured mine last night and my garage door as a 6'9" clearance.

2.5"/1" should be good to go - the extra .5" in the rear may make it too tall.

Is there anything I need in addition to what comes from CCM with the purchase of the level kit to install (other than tools)? My installer asked me if I already had extended U bolts - but I was under the impression I wouldn't need any additional hardware. Am I wrong?

Should be complete kit. U-bolts? Those are usually for leaf springs kits.

Yep. It went on with ease. Really like the look right now. And I still fit in both my home garage and work parking garage with no scraping. :)

I also removed the plastic around the side steps. Looks so much better without it.

The mechanic (who I've solely used for 12 years and trust) said I've probably got 20,000 miles left on my tires before I need to replace, so for right now, I'll save that $ and look into using it on a Black Bear Tune. If everyone thinks it's worth it.

If you're going to step up a size in tires i would do that before the tune

The driveway is pretty slanted so it's not really squatting like the image would have you believe.

Just sent my deposit for a time slot at the Black Bear Tune Fort Worth event. Everybody said if you're on the fence, get it done - so I'm getting it done.

When you get larger tires you can have them adjust the speedo. If you are not getting the Autocal, then I think they have a number of free adjustment tunes (i would ask them if you are concerned about this). Consider waiting till you install more upgrades then get the tune.

Oh yeah, rig looks good!

Thanks. Currently in debates about adding an Airaid MIT. Waiting to hear back from Julie @ Black Bear. Obviously if I decide to pull the trigger, I want to have this done in the next month before the tune first weekend of December. Other than that & tires, I think I'll be done modifying anything other than stereo and additional window tint.

Maybe this is just my stupidity, but will they need to adjust the speedo if I only increase tire width? I'm almost settled on Nitto Terra Grappler 285/65/R18, and I'm currently running a 265/65/18 AT?

That size tire is larger in diameter. The middle number (65) is the ratio of the tire sidewall height. That is, the tire side wall is 65% of 285 mm. So the tire diameter is 2 x (65%*285 mm*[1in/25.4mm]) + 18 in = 32.59 in. For the 265 width the diameter would be 31.56 in.
