Wheel and tire dilemma (updated with pics)

Hey guys, been searching non stop and racking my brain like crazy trying to find an answer without posting. I have a bone stock 01 Tahoe LT 5.3 4x4. Currently I am running 265/75 R16 and am wanting to upgrade to a 17" wheel. The local shop is recommending a 285/70 R17 for the replacement tire size. I am slightly concerned I will buy them then end up having to install a level kit or crank my t-bars so they don't rub too bad. Any help would be great. I would basically just like to know if I am good to go with no mods or if I should do a level kit before hand or just put them on and crank accordingly.

Current: 265/75R16 on aftermarket wheels (possible AR Baja)
Unsure of specs, were on when I bought it

Upgrade per local shop recommendation: 285/70R17 on AR893 Mainline
17" x 8" 25 offset 5.48 backspacing

+1^. Do a google search for, visual tire size calculator. Helps to get an actual visual comparison of different size wheel/tire combinations. According to one I just used, 265/75/16= 31.5" & 285/70/17=32.7" .

Your model truck will clear that size easy, you could even go up to 285 75 17, but if your happy with the 70s that's cool. I just know you have the room, my buddy has a 02 suburban and he clears 285 75 16 with no lift or anything

Ordered the AR893 mainlines in black machined finish 17x8 and 285/70r17 cooper discoverer at3s. Should arrive Monday unless we get the storm they're calling for then it will be Tuesday or Wednesday. Will post pics once I get them picked up. Won't be installing until a little better weather though.

I am running the at3s on my Tahoe and I love them I think you will be very happy with them. They have a sporty look but a slightly aggressive tread look also, I'm running them in 275 55 20 but I am pleased with them!

Thank you for the reply. I was impressed with the aggressive all terrain look and a few reviews I saw online looked promising. Any first hand experience with snow?

I haven't taken them up to the snow yet, but I will post as soon as I do. I have pretty high expectations for snow tires I'm coming from a truck that ran bfg ats and I loved them in the snow

The wheels came in Monday and the tires arrived yesterday. The shop got them mounted and balanced late yesterday just before they closed, so I will be picking them up this afternoon when I get out of work! I will post pictures once I get them in my basement. So far it's looking like it may be a nice weekend so I just may mount them up.

Personally, I am not in favor of the white wall out. However, the tire looks great and does seem to have a bit of an aggressive tread, which I am looking for next time I will be mounting tires.

How do you like them so far?

i wasn't real sure on the white lettering myself but chose it to be out just to kind of break it up a little bit. So far I'm loving them. Haven't traveled far enough with them to be certain yet, but they are very quiet and smooth.
