Last week i got rolled for my front window tint, the first time ever in the 3 years of having them. Well me thinking they were the legal limit of 35% had no worries, come to find out they were actually 28% and received a 50$ ticket. Luckily my eye doctor was so kind to write me a letter/prescription to be able to have my tints :pepper:. Ive heard good and bad storys of this but court is in a week or so. update to follow

Yes do so. I wanted 35%, but with limo on top of the factory tint, it's pretty dark in the back so I got 50% on the front doors, and at times it appears to be dark at certain angels, but not how I really want it.

Most states allow a tint waver if you have the appropriate DMV form filled out by a doc and filed at the DMV. Hopefully a note will work for you in court after the fact.

I have a doctors prescription for 5%, and in Michigan (or at least in my part) they don't even make you get a DMV form I just pull out the scrip from my center console and show it and they let me go :D

In pa...medical excuses for film to not cover dyed or colored films. Clear reflective film is all that is accepted in conjunction with medical exemption.

Wrong. In MI the law provides for an endorsement on your DL that allows you to drive a tinted vehicle. You get a script from your eye doc, take it to the Secretary of State office and they put the endorsement on your license.
Get pulled over by a state trooper and let me know how that script goes for you. You WILL get a ticket.

I have a script and have been pulled over numerous times (more than 3x's) in my vehicles (never in the Tahoe, though, for some reason) with 20% on the front (two times have been by the state boys). I only have to pull out my prescription and I am good to go. It works out fine for me!

What do all you guys say to the doctors ? The sun gives you a headache ? Wouldn't they just tell you to wear sunglasses ? I thought you had to have some kind of skin problem.. Which is a little tougher to fake , hmm am curious towards this .. And interested

I have a legitimate issue with my eyes and light so my eye Dr. gave me one. He only gives out 1 to 2 a year and only for people with actual problems. He said he actually meets with the local police to discuss window tint and writing scripts. He did not elaborate on what he meets with them about, though.

I have heard that some Dr.s will just give them out to anyone, though.

I even have my house tinted. Everything I own with windows (except my computers) have tint! ;)

I had ALL {even windshield} tinted to 35% and loved it. I have never been pulled over for it, so I am not sure if it is legal or not.

My window tint guy would not elaborate on whether it was legal or not, but he also refused to right me a receipt......Hmmm.
He said it was because the water run off from tinting can damage the "on-board" computer and that he did not want to be liable for the damages.

It was the best $200 bucks I have ever spent {for 2 vehicles}.

In my experience, you need a legitimate medical reason to get a medical waiver. Usually either an eye or skin condition that makes you sensitive to UV rays. Or a doctor that just doesn't give a shit. lol

In CO, medical exemptions aren't recognized at all, but I was running 15% all around on my land cruiser and never got screwed with. I haven't tinted the Tahoe yet but I'm getting a new windshield tomorrow. I'll probably get that new AirBlue ceramic tint on the windshield, and just tint match the front windows to the rear for now. I'll get the rears darker when summer gets closer.
