I think this mod is actually pretty cool? I'm only 16, so I'm sure that it'll be said that I have a fascination with flashing lights because I'm young, which is probably true, but still... I would really like to add some type of white strobes to the front of my car, I just haven't had the excess cash-flow to do so yet... I want them just for the cool factor and to mess with my friends, so I understand where the OP is coming from... I don't understand why everyone is getting all hot & bothered about a modification that HE did to HIS truck? The first few warning posts where okay, but when every other post is someone complaining and being rude, it's safe to say the thread has derailed and gotten out of hand... He's a big boy, he knows the risks of having these lights mounted, and I'm sure he isn't stupid enough to go around pulling people over....

It's already been stated, but I'm sure he didn't post photos just to listen to everyone complain about this mod...

OP, I like the mod, and will probably be doing something similar in the future... Your truck is looking sharp!

Just my $0.02 ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

I came to the party late.....:)

Reading all this I think......

1. Looks good, cool factor etc.

2. But... Not necessary, and I wouldn't do it, I would not spend $$ for such a novelty item.

3. Austin is grown, should take responsibility for his actions. As such I think he has been "warned" through of this thread. If he gets busted then....... he knows now.

4. I still think his truck looks dope.:mexsmoke:
Thanks!

I think all your points are correct, don't have an argument against any of them.

Looks like I'm staring at one of our local undercover units(minus the front plate)

Looks good but all I see is trouble in your future...on or off it isn't gonna matter-especially when they can see the gear by your right leg if you get stopped.

Different mods for different folks I guess.......enjoy and keep an eye out for the real undercovers ;)

even not using then.. the fact that you have the same size and location behind the grill lights as the undercover have is enough warrant for the cop to question. and the moment you fire them up at his request and he/she finds out that they are blue and you have a PA you are done for..

All i am saying is be careful you are pushing the limits thats all i am saying.. asked a state trooper buddy today about it and sent your picture. he said he would pull you over in a heart beat.

:bs: That is a total BS statement! Under what right does any state trooper have any right to pull him over because he truck "LOOKS" like it may be a some type of law enforcement affiliation? THEY CAN'T DO THAT!!! If that was the case, every grandma in this country would be getting pulled over for driving white Crown Vics not to mention that every police force in the country is recycling their old cruisers in public city auctions right now. So you, me, or whoever could go buy a Crown Vic with a bull bar and and manual search/spot lights on the driver side right now. They're everywhere!!! Do you think the people that are driving them are getting pulled over? NO!!! I mean the list goes on. My GF drives a Dodge Charger, she doesn't get pulled over cause she looks like a cop and her car really does look identical to the undercover narcotics unit in my home town. Same color, same wheels, dark ass tint. I mistake them all the time except for her pink sticker in the back window.

My point is this, as long as this fella isn't riding around and pulling people over on the public roads, he's perfectly ok and if he gets pulled over for "LOOKING" like a cop, well just so happens that law enforcement officer or whatever type of authority figure that does pull him over, that fella "LOOKS" like an *******. AND there is no way in HELL that would EVER hold up in court. EVER!!!

I mean think about this. I happen to be a 6'1" 245 lbs. white guy and I'm covered in tattoos. My left arm is sleeved out, I drive a Tahoe on 26s, I listen to my music way too loud and if I didn't know me, I would think I was a thug. A good for nothing low life white trash criminal. Should I get stopped because I "LOOK" like a criminal. No, I shouldn't. Truth be known, I'm a hard working guy that takes pride in a good looking vehicle. I work hard for everything I have and when I'm not offshore busting my butt to provide for my family, I'm at church every Sunday and Wednesday night.

I'm just saying, tell your buddy officer to come pull me over with that "LOOKS" like this or that and see if he doesn't find not only a fight in court over the traffic stop, but also a personal lawsuit for defamation of character.

RANT OVER!

Look, i feel ya bro, my tahoe looks suspicious and i have tattoos all over and i am a hard working middle class guy, but if a cop wants to pull you over, hes gonna. Suspicious or normal, they will find a reason and you got nothin. If you barely touch the white or yellow solid line, that is enough to pull you over. It may be abuse, but they can do it. Whether your car looks like a cop car or not, bull bar, lights, black rims and chrome hub caps, they can pull you over.

Its all up to the cops and what they feel is safe or being used for the wrong reason. Most are not gonna pull you over, but lights are a little more serious than a bullbar or rims.

Either way, lets not call people out and argue, the OP knows the risk, and is ok w/ it. Let him enjoy it and deal w/ it if something was to ever happen.

I would totally understand getting pulled over if I was using them on the road, makes a lot of sense. But getting pulled over just because you have LED bars behind your grille would be ridiculous, especially considering they make off-road auxiliary LED bars now. At that point I would claim they didn't work and I bought the truck with them on. Also, turns out with the LTZ grille you really have to be looking for them, can't see them hardly unless they are on.

THink of the confusion if a real officer in an suv pulls a young lady over and makes overt passes at her and all she remembers is a black suv with blue lights in the grill in his home town... and yes it happens... come on young man THINK!!!

Felony Mods

Phatty Ford,
are you serious, are you really that sheltered!!! Man you try to help folks and they want to argue right and wrong.. the world is not fair and cops are not fair and some do lie to make cases, why would they not stop you for suspicious vehicle?? They do it every day they believe it is their job to make as many cases as possible.

Code of Alabama

Section 13A-10-11
Impersonating peace officer.

(a) A person commits the crime of impersonating a peace officer if he falsely pretends to be a peace officer and does any act in that capacity.

(b) Impersonating a peace officer is a Class C felony.

Dude please stop it's annoying I'll do what I want I'm not in your state and I'm not even the Op don't tell me to think either.
He's NOT impersonating an officer he has lights that he likes stop being so up tight about things I could put a thousand clear Led's everywhere and if there not on they can't do ANYTHING to me they don't know what color they produce or anything about them. Thanks.EDIT: I find it pathetic that a cop would even be looking for this on a vehicle then checking alleys, running plates, REAL COP WORK not sitting behind a crown vics steering wheel looking for illegal mods to trucks like window tints and smoked brake lights when vans with decals all over it are given a pass when they have a thousand colors and it's an actual vinyl cover
This is still going on?!!
Seriously my god

He was referencing my train horn but.
