Thank you I appreciate that.

If anyone has any questions or would like me to take better pics or more pics please let me know.

Hey guys im sorry I made a booboo on the instructions in the pic with the red wire that goes to ground, this wire is the one coming from Terminal 86 on the relay I REPEAT !!!, Terminal 86 on the relay goes to ground, not 85. NOT 85

Sorry bout that

MrBalll can u fix my error please !!!!!!! LOL

---------- Post added at 10:55 PM ---------- Previous post was at 10:29 PM ----------

Just grab a link to the image and in the reply box just click the little yellow box with a mountain in it on the mid-right. It should have an image link inside tags like below.

angel.arteaga images below. ......

"In this picture, on the bottom right side, u can see a rectangular white connector with 3 wires coming out of it. On the bottom left side of this picture u can see the black plastic dom that houses the passenger side domelight bulb, u can also notice that this black plastic dome has 2 wire terminals on it, the wires coming out of these 2 terminals are yellow and black. The black wire coming out of the terminal on this black plastic dome goes directly to the white rectangular connector on the bottom right of the pic, which I mentioned before. This is the wire that I cut between the black plastic dome and the white rectangular connector, it is already cut in this pic. The side of this black wire that comes out of the white rectangular connector goes to Terminal 85 on the relay, and the side of the black wire that comes out of the black plastic dome terminal, goes to Terminal 30 on the relay."

"This is a better pic of the little white harness where I got the 12v constant as u can see this little harness has 6 pins (3 on the top row and 3 on the bottom row). I tapped the wire coming from Terminal 87 on the relay to the orange wire on the bottom row to the right side, u can see an empty pin on top of this wire that I used."

"This brown wire u see here with an in-line fuse installed is the wire that comes from terminal 87 on the relay, Constant 12v. I tapped it it to an orange wire on that little white harness u see on the pic"

"This is the wire that comes from Terminal 86 (not 85) on the relay. I just got the GND from that top metal bracket."
That red wire comes from Terminal 86 on the relay, NOT 85

Fixed it, sorry bout that guys.

---------- Post added at 11:02 PM ---------- Previous post was at 10:58 PM ----------

So here are the correct terminals of the relay once again

86- GND
87- Constant 12v
87a- not used
85- vehicle side of the black wire that was cut
30- bulb side of the black wire that was cut

For an even better understanding of what I did, that is that actual relay diagram that I used.

---------- Post added at 11:15 PM ---------- Previous post was at 11:11 PM ----------

Anybody gonna try this on their dimming LEDs ???????????

I hear ya, so you've been installing stuff for a while now ?

With the economy the way it is and people going up in prices for everything, and even before the economy. went down, and i just don't trust other people working on my stuff, that i can do myself if i just sit down and look at what i want to do and then that way, i know all the bolts, etc are on correct and the satisfaction of i did it, and i didn't have to pay someone thousands of bucks for something i could of done. (lots of bad experiences w/ folks doing things for me, bolts not tightened, stuff broke - not told about,"

so i would rather do it, and then if i cant do something, i'll ask on here, or ask my buddy Chris, quote below. ha ha.. If we cant figure it out, then that's what the net is for.

and yeah, everything on my tahoe is from me and me only. No one helped me physically.

He's always modding, he's addicted!! lol

Yep, so are you b/c of me. ha ha. If i get better, ive got some "things" i need to install this weekend.

alright, just did this and it does infact work. Just one relay on one side, and all lights in the tahoe work. Very nice, but...

the bad, (to me) when you go to start the truck, the relay sounds like its frying. Its a buzzing sound, until it starts. Also happens when if running, someone gets opens the door, buzzes again. So this will not be staying as that noise is annoying to me.

Any one have any other idea of how to get more voltage to the courtesy lights, w/o using a relay. The push buttons.

angel.arteaga - thanks for your work, as this does work, and you did state about the sound, but that sound bothers me.

Your welcome and i know, that sound is very annoying but until now i havent been able to figure out any other way. I plan to keep working at it though. As soon as i figure something out ill post it on here.

Another thing you will all notice is that after a while the current for the domelight circuit, i guess "goes to sleep", and the relay will also "go to sleep.

So due to this is that after a while of the buttons on the domelights not being pressed, if you turn on any of the domelights that do not have the relay on them, they will be dim again, when this happens you have to i guess "awake" the current to the relay again by pushing the button oof the bulb that you installed the relay on, and then they will all work again.

Like i said as soon as i come up with something else i will post it guys.

I already noticed it the other day when i did it, about the relay going to sleep. I started to get mad b/c i said it just worked, then pushed the button, and ****, all worked again. figured it had to do w/ the lights or something.

And its no big deal, the sound, just odd, hearing it go buzzzzz.. But glad it works, used it alot actually the past few days. ha ha.

But if you do find another way, id be interested, as i dont know much about electrical stuff. Would a resistor work? Like i think was mentioned earlier or is that not this type of problem on this? (does that make sense) lol

Not terrible bad, but dim indeed, not really enough to use to read. But will light up if needed to find something. Almost half power i would say. and im not sure if it happens with all 03 up tahoes, just i know on mine, w/ any led i put it them its dim.

Has anyone taken a voltmeter to the power coming out of the relay when it is buzzing? If not, would be cool if someone would, curious on what the voltage is and if it fluctuates!

Im pretty sure it will happen on all of them. What are the odds of it happenning on mine and tahoewhat's tahoes, but then again it might be just us two !!!!!! XD LOL.

As far as the resistor, this problem will not be solved by a resistor. As far as the LED's go, a resistor is used when........ For example, if you had an LED that is only 2.5 volts, and you want to install it on your tahoe domelight which will give it 12 volts, the resistor would be on the LED positive wire so it wont get burned due to the over voltage.

Im pretty sure there is such thing as a silent relay. OR..........

Im not sure about this, but if one relay helped fix ALL OF THE LED's on the tahoes, and the wire with the dropping voltage is the positive wire,

When i tested the wires with the meter the negative wire did not have a voltage drop.
Im really doubting thos will even work, but maybe putting the relay on the negative wire instead of the positive wire will perform the same function PLUS eliminate the buzzing sound. So doing this would involve the same process of wiring in the relay but instead of cutting the positive wire, you would cut the negative wire.

Once again i doubt this would work but, i guess ill try it tomorrow and post the result on here for you guys.

MMMMMM i had never thought of that rivieraracing, thats a good idea, i will also try this tomorrow to see what i can make of it.
