Monday was my 18th birthday, and my parents surprised me with a 2000 White Tahoe LS. They had a FlowMaster exhaust system installed along with a performance chip. My dad bought four new Avalanche rims and custom painted them. He then had new tires put on. Yes, it is an awesome ride, but there are a few issues with it that can easily be fixed...I just can't find the damn parts to replace them with.

First, the ignition switch is kinda broken (see pics). Where can I find a replacement?

Second, both passenger-side door's light/reflector thing is broken (see pics). Where can I get a replacement? (The first picture is one of the passenger side doors, and the second is one of the driver's side).

Third, the driver's door hinge moves down when opened, and makes a loud "clack" noise when closing (noise comes from the hinge moving back up due to the force of the closing door). Are there spacers that I can install? If so, where can I get them?

Fourth, is there supposed to be an LED here? If so, what is it for?

P6300256.jpg

Lastly, the "ceiling" fabric has a ton of dark stains on it. Would a carpet stain remover be able to take out the stains without leaving strange lightly colored spots?

Thanks for all the help!

P.S. Where can I find a cover that covers the space between the middle row of seats and the hatch-door?

Check a scrap yard for the door light covers. It'll be cheaper than new ones from the dealer.

After looking through my pictures of it, I realized that it is missing the R-R rack guard/cover thing. Where can I pick up one (or even a pair so that they match) of those? Here are some pics. First pic is the missing cover, and the second is obviously the existing one.

That isn't a bad idea! I will have to go there tomorrow. Luckily, there is one conveniently located about 5 minutes away. Thanks for the suggestion. I will have to see if I can also get the other needed parts while I am there.

I would check the scrap yard for everything you need first. Just take tools.

that cover for the rack should just pop off with your hand. I'm not too sure about the other stuff. I haven't messed around with that on mine yet.

Only think if you get the ignition lock, you might need a new key. Just thought about that right now, unless you can take the plastic cover off and just swap that.

Oh damn...that is true. Well, I have a question you might find strange. When you guys go to turn the key in the ignition, is it smooth, or does it feel stuck, which forces you to turn it hard so that it can turn the power on? I have a major problem with starting it. I will take a video that shows just how ***** ing frustrating it is to start it. Maybe the pieces that are missing from the plastic thing are actually stuck inside of it, causing it to feel stuck. Whatever it is, it annoys the shit outta me.

Do you think someone tried to steal it at some point? Thats an odd place to see damage, it looks like it was almost pried out with a screwdriver. Is there any other damage to the surrounding area of the steering column?

The ignition should be smooth and easy to turn; if you're forcing it, something is wrong. Lets see some pics of the rest of the truck though, not just the stuff thats messed up! :Big Laugh:

Oh, and happy birthday, welcome to the forums! :signs131::cheers:

www.gmpartsdirect.com can get you all the parts you mentioned!!
As for the sunroof, you can either use Spot Spot or Tuff Stuff upholstery cleaners to clean them with a Microfiber or any other smooth cloth!
You also could just put suede on the sunroof too, would run $300!! :hands:

On my '03 Tahoe the piece that connects to the hinge is solid so there is no space to put in any spacers like yours is. I'm guessing they made a design change between '00 and '03. Try lubing it (white lithium grease, etc) and see if that fixes the issue, I'll bet you it is just dry.

Oh, and I forgot to mention...that isn't my house you see behind my Hoe. Mine is actually to the left of it. :D Just thought I should point that out. (We have a little too many cars (5), so my neighbor lets me park there) :Handshake:

Dynamo...would some TriFlow or some marine-grade bearing grease work? I don't seem to have any White Lithium Grease. :hands:

White lithium is great for that sort of application but any kind of lubricant would at least tell you if a lack of lubrication is the problem. Even a shot of WD-40 would work.

Okay...here is a quick video of my problem. For some reason, it was not hard to turn in the beginning of the video, but it wasn't even going at the end. IDK why it is doing this. Anyway, here is the video. (NOTE: I was doing it hard, and it would not turn. I was not exaggerating at all)

I checked out the passenger side, and the bolt thing is actually upside down. I also tried using TriFlow on my door and it did not help a bit. I still makes a terrible clacking noise whenever it is opened all the way, then shut. I will try to remember to take a video of it...:)

I'm interested in the door thing b/c my both my rear passenger doors make a clanking noise when I open and close them. Almost like something is sticking.

It is just the metal bracket arm thing catching on the pin (because it falls to the bottom of the pin when opened), and when you close the door, it forces the bracket arm thing upward, causing it to make the loud noise.

It is kinda like taking a tooth pick and holding onto each end and forcing the middle to go outwards. When the wood can't take the amount of torque, it snaps. Same with the metal bracket arm thing. Once it can't take any more upward torque, it "snaps" back into place. Does this make sense?

So all we need in order to fix it is a metal or plastic spacer that "clips" onto the pin that the bracket arm thing is holding onto. The only problem is finding the right one...
