ok so i am just going over possibilities in my head. i am going to get an obs escalade center console with the 2 cubby holes. i am wanting to take those out and put a cd player in one. then put a dvd changer in the center console and a headrest screen where the stock tape player goes. i will use using my ipod touch for the rare nav needs. then use that screen to play dvds from the changer and also use it for a rearview cam. mind you all this is a little ways off, i am wanting to convert my front end to the esky, then take off the roof rack, new door speakers, paint all the interior plastic, new alarm, brush guard, and new taillights first.

Sounds interesting but yet confusing? If that makes sense lol.
I would go double din conversion with an all in one since I hate multiple devices. but I have not seen a decently priced damn HU that suports HCSD cards or removable HDD yet.

i am all about trying to have as little storage room as possible so i don't feel a need to keep as much shit in the car. and even with the possibility of sd cards and everything i still prefer the good old fashioned cd and ipod for my music

I think I saw a post about a guy tring to fit an Ipad in the dash? Anyway
I think it would be cool. I like the idea of the screen being in the radio area and maybe even the heater control area. The only thing I hate is the radio area is not tilted to the driver. I can't agree with an Ipod being old fashion though lol. When I started driving I was still using a tape player lol. Nothing like tring to rewind a tape while on the highway at 70mph :emotions122:

+1

That's why when as a kid, the first deck I ever bought was a Blaupunkt! It had auto reverse!!!! It could change sides without flipping the tape and it could auto rewind to the beginning of the song! It was over $300 which at the time was very $$$....

Funny, I still buy Blaupunkt speakers for the front of my vehicles for listening to audio books. I can hear the words better with them. The voices sound crisper if that's a word! lol

Yea then SCreeCH. Tapes junk. lol Except for 99Yuk and his HIFI tape player lol.

So Joshb, I remember reading on Jensens web site that they made a head unit that is single din, and is a DVD/CD/MP3/WMA player (I own to of these units by the way) and it was linkable to a head rest monitor they make that is touch screen. Full control from the touch screen to the single din HU that has a small screen in it. The Head unit I have in my hoe is a vm8013. It has an I pod kit avalible or the vm8013HD has the ipod kit with it. Anhow I was looking at these headrests on thier site a while back and thought that it was awsome that you could control the HU through the head rest monitor. Is that close to what you are talking about? You could use that head rest monitor they make into the dash area and moun the Hu in the console and add dvd changer to it and it would have I pod hook up and everything. Plus the HU has front usb and an sd card slot. It's not HCSD of corse but again, who makes that yet lol.

that is awesome. but biggest thing would be bluetooth. and cost. not neccesarilly in that order, i mean i don't want to cheap out on anything. but i also want to try to keep that around mayb 1100-1300, that might work better so i don't have to spend the money on the dvd changer.

Well I mean if you don't want to be swaping them and have a selection it's a way to get around that but yes for comon apps a single would be fine but he seems to be talking about a full on custom setup that may blow our minds so I guess it just depends on what your tring to do.

I may be wrong about the Vm8013's being able to control it. I was rereading it and you have to use a dual zone HU. But check this out. One that I found is compatible is just about everything your looking for but you don't need the monitor in the stock HU spot.
here is the head rest and the HU

i am just letting ideas roll around in my head. i am not too sure completely. but yea i want to have a choice of running a dvd and cd separately like so if the person riding wants to watch then i don't have to listen to it. which is why i want to get a headrest with the headphones. but you would be correct that dvd play cd. just wouldn't leave me with that option of the passenger watching while i drive.
