6L80E compability?

Hi guys

I stumbled across a ad for a used 6L80E from a Corvette C6.
The ad says it works for 2006 to 2013.
Would this work for my GMC Yukon Denali XL 2007?.
The price is a steal and it only has 70000 km/44000 miles approximately.
This is a auction site and the prize can go up, but the interest seems very low. It's startingprice is about $900 !!.

At the very least, the back of the transmission is going to be different as yours is set up for AWD. The output shaft may be of a different spline count. Nick will know all that.

No, at least not as-is.

Why not rebuild (or have rebuilt) your existing transmission?

NO. 'vette transmission cases since '97 connect DIRECTLY to the rear ring & pinion (NOT the engine).
'vette transmissions since '97 are more accurately referred to as transaxles.

Get a 6L80E from any pickup truck or suv.

Next question,is it possible to make it work in my Denali with parts from my existing 6L80E, or is it a different casing all together?.
My thought is to have it as a spare if/when my tranny decides to die.
I've done everything with my vehicles in the past, but I have stayed away from automatic transmissions. But you got to start sometime .
The problems is as always money, I don't have or think it's worth the money to rebuild or buy a used one from a scrapyard.
Here in Sweden there's not a lot to choose from. I looked online on a used 6L80E from a GMC Yukon -08 with over 220" miles for $3000.

Please read my previous post AGAIN, then read this one, then please give up on 'vette TRANSAXLES, ENTIRELY.
You've neither the time, nor the tech expertise, nor the tools, nor the money, to transform a 'vette 6L80 transAXLE into a 6L80 transMISSION for pickups or suvs.

The only way a professional transmission rebuilder would consider what you're thinking is if they had plenty of time to waste on a dare; it's a BAD business decision.
You're basically asking if mating a wolf & a dog is possible.
Just 'cause it CAN be done, does NOT mean it SHOULD be done.

It'd be easier and cheaper to convert your vehicle to work with a manual transmission ...
AND even then, please do NOT waste your time trying to use one from a 'vette!

Maybe you need to see pics of the underside of 'vettes to appreciate the situation?

If you find an NV3500 (RPO code MG5, NOT M50) or NV4500 (RPO codes MT8 or MW3), and you're willing to improve your MpGs by converting to a stick shift,
any of those work will be at least an order of magnitude easier and quicker than what you were asking.

Could 'swear' there was a GMT800 vehicle - possibly a HD pickup variant? - that used a six speed manual, but that may've only been in Mexico ...

Well, according to a guy I knew named Ermenegildo from Ensenada, the 4.3L V6 was an option in HD Silverados, and
some of those 4.3L V6-HD Silverados also came with 6speed manual transmissions.

Could swear the VIN for one of these Mexican HD Silverados with a 4.3L V6 & a 6speed manual is here on TYF ...

Very much doubt there is such a thing as a 6.6L DuraMax V8 coupled to a manual that came GM OE, but a man can dream ...

I got it, it's NOT the same even if the " name" is the same.

I don't really need a tranny right now, (knock on wood) but due to the lack of this type of tranny's in this country I'll better start to look around in general.

I'm not gonna guarantee the accuracy, but I think it breaks down like this [if I get it wrong, someone can come teach us both]...

Technically, the 'vette 6L80E is installed longitudinally, like any other transmission with an 'L'.
However, 'vette-specific 6L80Es can only bolt up to & mate directly onto the rear axle; NOT onto the engine.

I'd better start to look around in general.

Bet you find a manual transmission that can be made to bolt up to your 6.2L L92 V8,
before you find a 6L80E that you won't need to rebuild.

(By the way, over in Sweden, what octane of petrol do you pour into your Denali's tank?)

That would be cool with a manual transmission, I saw last week a video on YT of a Denali with manual tranny. Not so very nicely done though, there was one big ass hole in the center console. The whole wood part in the middle was removed, and believe me, all that space was needed to change thru the gears.
We had years ago 95,96 and 98 octane at the pump, nowadays only 95 and 98 and there are very few that uses 98 octane.

I use 95 which also is E10 by the way, and will soon be E15 if EU decides that.
I think 98 is ethanol free, maybe E5, don't know for sure.
As i know "our" octane is not the same as yours, don't know the difference though.

Euro 95 octane (RON) converts to American 90.5 octane (RON + MON) / 2 ... & that's your 'Regular', huh?
Our regular is STILL merely 87 octane.
I wonder if your '07 Denali-L92 spark timing maps are any different from American '07 Denali-L92 spark timing maps ...

Vehicles of that age was not sold here in Sweden( maybe a few), all of them is imported. So no difference in mapping compared to yours I guess.
Mine was imported in October 2011.

Trannies can come in all shapes and sizes though it’s a good thing you don’t have many of them over there; we have way too many of them over here.

It is also unfortunate that you don’t have a lot of 6L80 transmissions in your part of the world. I imagine that makes it difficult and expensive to replace if the transmission requires it for some reason (ie it cannot be rebuilt) or you want to build a spare.
