Rear windshield wiper

My rear windshield wiper stopped working. After taking a look the screw shown in the picture spins when switched but the wiper doesn’t move. Any ideas or parts that need to be replaced.

Although factory is usually the best option.

new wiper arm then it needs to be parked properly so the glass will open. There is a safety interlock function so the arm does not turn on and take your face off when the rear glass is opened.

I’d suggest an OEM GM part. You know you will get an exact fit and the part can be matched to your VIN.

Soak the nut and shaft with penetrating oil or fluid. You’ll need a terminal puller (such as used on a battery terminal connector).

The inside of the wiper arm opening is made of softer metal that cuts new grooves when the wiper arm is installed and the shaft-nut tightened.

@2024 White Tahoe gave you the exact instructions that you will need. Go GM OEM on the arm, for sure. The wiper blade is your choice, and long as it has the correct connector to the arm (GM wiper blade will certainly fit at a higher cost).

You biggest challenge will be getting the old arm off the motor drive shaft. It took a couple of day applying PB Blaster, and then a pulley puller to get the arm off, when I had to do mine, but you might get lucky. Be patient, as you don't want to harm the motor shaft and bearing.

One additional tip: I have used a thick paper towel, wrapped around the corroded nut and held on with a rubber band or small plastic zip ties - then soak the towel with penetrant and allow to work for a day or so.

This will prevent the penetrant from running down on your vehicle and also keep it soaking on the corroded area.

Arm being stripped, pb and cordless impact then arm should come right off.

The rear wiper linkage or the connection between the motor and wiper arm has failed. The motor spins, but the arm doesn’t move. Replacing the wiper linkage or the motor with its output shaft will fix it.

Except OP did state his screw still spins.

And arm photo shows obvious crack..

I just did this past weekend and it works properly now. Bought my replacement off rock auto.
