My truck ISN'T on that recall list. Phew! (But I did buy a replacement module a while ago that I keep in the back of my truck.)

Well, my 2021 falls on that list. I purchased a spare module several months ago in the event we had a failure. It was only $52.18 shipped.

The part number for the Yukon/Tahoe/Suburban/Escalade Fuel Pump control module is 13554821. There is another part number listed in the bulletin, but that is for the smaller GM SUV's.

The bulletin paperwork does not indicate an engine specifically.

I believe the module is the same between gas 5.3 & 6.2 and diesel 3.0.

The part number, when looked up for fitment says its the same on all these engine variants.

Does this apply to the 6.2L engine as well?

Yes, it is all engines. It just depends on your VIN. It seems it might be during a certain period during 2021 that they had some problems. My 2021 Suburban HC does not show as having the recall part, so my truck is not affected by this bulletin. You need to check with your dealer.

Keep in mind, the recall is being phased out in tiers. So I would double check the recall website after a few weeks, it may even be phased over a few months...

My Yukon is a late 2020 build, 2021 model. The recall website does not show the recall open either.

I can check in GWM, Global Warranty Management and see in the GM system if a recall or bulletin is applicable. It was not a large number of vehicles. Mine is not under the recall for the FPCM. I bought one just in case. It could be only a certain range of VINs which is common anymore. I have seen several recalls only for 2 or 3 vehicles.

I had my FPCM replaced by my local GMC dealership on Saturday. I received an email from GM a couple weeks ago they said my vehicle was in the recall group (which I already knew). So I called the dealer, they ordered the parts, only took a few days.

I dropped off the truck on Saturday morning and I had the truck back by 2:00pm. I did remove my Range DFM module before taking it to the dealer as a precaution, in case they decided to do any software updates to the vehicle. I put it back on as soon as I got home though.

I still have a spare FPCM that I purchased a few months back that I keep in the truck, in case the new one decides to **** the bed.

I'm loath to take it into the dealer because it's a pain for me.....

Just ordered a unit, watched the youtube above... within my skill set to replace if the unit fails.

My question - If I have a power failure, how do I know or diagnose that this (unit) is the cause? / this is what I should replace. Is there a specific DIC message that will tell me or what would my ODBC reader show code wise or ?

And, I'm presuming it's just plug/play? - no software reset/reprogramming needed?

typically the engine wont start, or will die on you while driving. And you may get a CEL.

The module is plug n play. no programming required.

What's the background on these modules failing - e.g. 5% or what's the risk look like. Does age matter - after all my rig is 70K miles and 5yrs old, running A-OK, and just now getting a recall?

The details are fuzzy to me (and bothers my brain) so if someone has details on failure profile I'd sure be interested.

The “failure profile” isn’t clear at all. Vlad’s engine failed at 66k, I believe. Some have failed within 3k. Age, mileage, nor year seems to matter.

By the same token, I don’t think many of us here believe the failure rate is only 3-5%. In my mind, if you can’t say that you’re “in the clear” after a certain mileage, then how can the failure rate be anything more than a snapshot at a specific time?
