RE: Parking garage clearances -- How tall are our trucks?

I've been meaning to ask this long before now, but recently headed into a parking garage in Philly that had a max clearance of 6'-4" stated at the entrance, and I really thought I was going to scrape my factory roof rails on something. I dropped my Denali's suspension down to entry/exit height just to feel safer, but dang it was tight in a couple areas in the garage.

So, what are the various heights of these trucks, ground to roof rails? Is the height of air-suspension-equipped vehicles in standard driving mode the same as the non-air-suspension trucks? Are Z71 or AT4s taller than Denalis? Know how tall the Denali is at entry/exit height vs standard driving height?

• The listed overall height for a 2023 Yukon is 76.5 inches at “normal” ride height. AutoNation Buick GMC West+2Regulations.gov+2
• The air-suspension system allows the vehicle to lower by approximately 2 inches (50 mm) when Entry/Exit Height is selected. NHTSA+2GMC+2
• Therefore, if the Yukon is at normal ride height of 76.5″, putting it into Entry/Exit mode would reduce the height by ~2″ — which gives you an estimated overall height of ~74.5 inches when the suspension is lowered for entry/exit.

At 6'-4", you were really on the edge of scraping. Thank god for air suspension. I definitely use it when rolling into parking garages when I feel like "ducking". lol
Funny you asked this... I'm house shopping right now and one of the requirements is to ensure my garage can fit at least two cars with one being the Denali.

Thanks for the reply. I def don't trust AI yet on too many things, but that all seems to jive. And I was going to just lay a 2x4 across my rails and measure the height the old fashion way, but I finally remembered to start a thread on this while sitting at my desk.

There are Manhattan parking garages that my '02 Z71 will never be able to enter without shorter tires, AND I'd also need to lower tire pressure from 44 to 28psi.
The ones it does fit under, it does so BARELY.

My '02 has an old school whip for a radio antenna in front of the windshield.
If it touches ANYTHING when I TRY to enter a garage, best believe I stop on a dime & bakkadahelup!

This was an awkward scenario... Taking my mom to an appointment in Philly, and the hospital parking garage entrance was down a bit of a cattle shoot and around a bend, and not until you got to that gate/ticket machine did it tell you what the clearance was. Backing out of there at that point would have been a bit of an ordeal, so I'm glad it worked out. lol

I've been meaning to post this since using another parking garage with a 6'-8" posted clearance that has always felt low to me... But this garage was REALLY low-feeling.

Just look up a few GM fact sheets on the specific trucks that you are interested in, and that is standard information, along with length and width.

This is great information.

Standard Ride Height: 6’ 4”
Max Height: 6’ 6”
Entry/Exit Height: 6’ 2”

Moral of the story: if you don’t have air suspension, I personally would not go into any garage that says “max height of 6‘4“.”

Even if you do, you better remember to lower your vehicle otherwise, your risk of scraping is very high.

I had a vinyl sticker made that I adhered to the back of my driver's side sun visor as a quick reference. I researched AND measured all the heights, and added 2" to each one just to make sure.
