Pretty sure that's the cover for the connection of the rear hatch window defogger. There's two coiled wire connections that connect to the glass and the soldered connection at the glass has a snap on plastic cover.

Hilarious. I have the same piece in glove box right now. Rear Hatch window defogger sounds about right. mine was sitting in the trunk the first time I opened it. Strange!

I got the funnel and cord for the engine block heater

The guy that did the driver side on the assembly line was high that day… didn’t feel like putting it on

Yes - one on each side. Pop the liftgate glass. Follow the coiled wires to the glass. I just looked at mine so I know with certainty that is what that trim cover is used on.
