And he couldn't turn the old rear bumper into a neat closeout for the sheet metal?
I also will never understand the 2wd prerunner thing
I myself am not a jeep fan at all, that being said if I was going to throw that kind of money at anything it would be a 2nd gen 4runner, at least it's skinnier and will fit in more places, frame is stronger, lots more 3rd party support. still wouldn't be a rock crawler but you could hit most jeep trails anyway.
no nannies and you can have a 5 speed, hi/lo, elocker stock

The bumper stickers are right..."Silly boys, Jeeps are for girls!"
I had a 99 Land Cruiser for a brief time, e locker, V8, but automatic...but a fun little truck to drive. See photo of the frame...yikes!!
I REALLY REALLY miss my 02 Nissan Xterra 5 speed...but it doesn't hold a candle to my Tahoe.
I've fully converted to GM full size, probably for life. Not really interested in wheeling anymore. Camping and light trails, yes. Tahoe is perfect. Avalanche could work too.

I had a triple locker 94 cruiser. It did climb out of a mud hole where it was sitting on frame rails..
I had to dig out the mud under the rear tire, but after rocking it back and forth a bit, it finally climbed out!
Just as my neighbor pulled up in his tractor to pull me out..

I like @Tozan 's bumpers! Don't really like the stock bumper too much..

Something tougher (because I have backed into things), little sleeker and more utility would be nice..

The baseline overland one looks pretty nice, but I don't like the side angle on it.
Also, would like more of a step on the back.. Worse for off road, I know. But I need a little more bumper than this..

Ah, I like the 80 series more than the 100! Too classic. It was an 80 and not a 70 I presume?

That is a good look, I really like the tire carrier bumpers...100% for tough looks and 50% so I don't have to screw around with the stock spare carrier in the event of a flat.
I wish the stock rear step was a little more tucked up, but I sure do appreciate it on certain occasions

Yep an 80 series.

Right, I'd like more clearance under the rear bumper (for looks and clearance), but want it protruding so there's a step surface, and crash protection!
But I get it, most people getting these bumpers are into offroad.

I got rear ended while parked in a Mcdonalds drive thru the other week...
He suffered a broken headlight, and my bumper was scratched up..
He looked like he had hit some things before, so maybe his headlight was already broken..

I hate the spare tire hoist also! But at the same time I don't want to swing the tire out everytime I open the hatch..
If I had Tozan's bumper I could probably live with it..

My bumpers are pretty hefty too, they're not just for looks. I think they are at least twice the thickness of most bumpers out there that I have seen. They are built for towing and pulling. It's a shame they stopped making them.

2wd is better for lower cost, longer front suspension travel, less weight, and better acceleration & top speeds... typically.
I'm saying off-road there is not really a case for RWD. (Pun intended)

What's funny about that build is that it looks nothing like that anymore. He's under @tahoe_prerunner on IG.
It's going through a pretty extensive build with a very nice Izzy front end, full cage and complete custom back-half.
I love Prerunners, the fact that you can go 100 plus in the dirt, fly a hundred feet and feel like you're on cushions is pretty amazing with 20+ inches of front travel and some up to 30+" or rear travel. 2wd or 4wd it doesn't matter and with today's technology and materials they're beyond wild.
The 4wd runners can crawl with the best of them. Check out The King of Hammers and see what they go through and over.
