Hello all,

Is there supposed to be a skid plate over the exhaust pipe and engine pan? This is a new to me 2007 LS. If so, is there a factory PN I should be looking for? Thanks!

Some have it some don't, depends on options.
Get it from a junk yard, even if they're still available new it'll be a fraction of the price.

there is a metal skid late that goes up front more (under engine) and there is a metal splash guard you can get from rod louvers in san diego, you already have the transfer case plate on there. the area you have pictured is the transmission and there is no plate that goes there

Thank you for clarifying. I typed engine pan, but meant transmission. I’m just looking for a skid plate in that area so I can add an absorbent mat to catch an oil leak while I prepare to fix it. The exhaust pipe has obviously made contact with the ground at some point so I thought a skid plate would be a good idea.

I was considering this one.

Yeah, that's what I got a year or two ago.

You'll need to thread the holes that already exist in the frame. They were punched in at the factory, but never threaded. You could get a tap, or make your own, with a spare bolt and an angle grinder. You'd cut two slits down the length of the bolt to make your own tap, then use an impact gun ( I suppose a ratchet would work too) to run it in/out of the virgin hole like a Marine on his first port call to Thailand.

The bolts are the same size as the ones in your existing transfer case skid-plate, so you could take one of those out, and bring it to a hardware store to find similar ones.

the exhaust pipe is designed like that with a flat edge from the factory it is not from impacting anything and is perfectly normal.
there is no skid plate for under the transmission I would suggest simply placing cardboard or kitty litter under the truck where you normally park it. until you can get the leak fixed.
