After owning it for a few days I feel I was ripped a bit. I bought it for $4700 with only 113,000 miles on her, and after I thought I looked it over pretty good, it wasn't until I got home that I started to notice all the crap that was wrong with it. However the motor runs real good, trans shifts good, A/C works good, leather seats and interior are in great shape.

First when braking at real slow speeds, almost stopped the ABS seems to kick in for no reason at all. Braking has been better since I replaced the back brakes.

Second the steering is shot, I jacked it up and see that I need an idler arm, one sway bar end link missing, which i replaced both, ball joints are Ok, tie rods Ok, center link seems Ok, steering box feels sloppy, the truck just handles like crap on the highway and sways side to side.

Radio worked then suddenly has no sound, when it was working I noticed a blown speaker.

Day time running lights don't work.

4wd buttons don't light up although 4wd works

Had to disconnect both visor mirriors as the doors were broke and the lights didn't shut off

Driver door has play in the hinges and the door stop is bent completely out of the way.

2 door or 4 door? What color and model/options?
Don't be mad that some stuff doesn't work, sounds like your handy enough to fix some of the problems she has. You will like it after you get used to her.

It's a 4 door LT, I guess the color is Indiglo Blue? As far as options, not sure what was available that year, I know it's got rear A/C.

Mine was swaying back and forth at one point. I changed all the shocks and it drove a lot better. The door just needs hinge pins. For the lights try putting LEDs in it they won't burn out and look better. For the visors check out Ebay you can find replacements for cheap. These are all common problems for a 11yr old 100k truck.

Wow what a PITA. The pitman arm was a F**** to change. Anyway sweat blood and pain well worth it as the truck is solid as hell now, stering wheel is off about a 1/4 turn but the shop doing the wheel alignment shoud be able to correct that.

Just got the truck back from a wheel alignment, night and day improvment over the old worn out steering parts.

Got any pics? $4700 isn't a bad price especially since those are decently low miles for a '99. Mine came with 135k. I don't blame you for being pissed though, I would be too if the seller didn't mention any of that stuff.

Honestly man, I paid $2800 for mine and it had 126k on the clock. Sure you paid about two grand more than I did but I've paid for about a thousand bucks worth of parts for mine (not including mods) and put in countless hours of work, and it still runs like shit. I mean it's not even running right now lol I would rather be in your situation.

Got to get into the brakes and see why she's activating the ABS at low speeds. I did find some stuff on goggle about a recall on 99 and up models because od the said ABS problems, just need to see if the old owner brought it in for service. Seems the hub mounted sensor gets dirty and causes faulty signals to the ABS modual.

Truck looks pretty nice.

I used to have a 740 volvo that would trigger the abs at low speed stops. To fix it I'd take a small brass wire brush and clean up the wheel the sensor reads off off because the grooves would fill up with brake dust and throw the sensor off.

That 4wd light is a problem for me too...when I first bought the truck it drove a little wierd on the way home and I hit the 2wd button and realized it had been in the semi 4wd position; the indicator lights weren't working. I haven't explored whether there is a bulb back there or if I need to replace the switch.

Around here that truck would go for 7-8K with that mileage.

It isn't that bad, Jersey isn't what those shows make us out to be, thats just a small age class of 18-30 YOs and yeah if your looking to party Jersey got it. My only problem with this state is the imense traffic, you wanna get anywere quick in Jersey then you don't drive between 6-9 AM and 4-8PM all week. Weekends in the summer the Gardern State Parkway is a parking lot down the shore areas.

usually the abs sensors are dirty from pad dust and shit. try using a brake cleaner in a can before you replace all those.

They're 20's right? I'd buy them if he's giving you a good price. There's a guy on here and his stepdad or something has a Tahoe on Escalade rims and it looks awesome. The guy's name is 2drhoeon4s I think. Search his posts.

Yea I would say you got a pretty decent deal on the truck considering the options and mileage, which are fairly low. And the problems you stated aren't too bad. I've had mine for 4 years now and have fixed/done way more to it. And despite it having 197k and spending counless time, effort, and dollars on it I still love it. And it's still not quite where I want it.
