Took a ride to check the 4X4 function. All works good. Had an old problem come back up. When the traction control initiates in 2WD it will kill the radio. I believe it is a ground issue. Can someone confirm the ground behind the LF wheel is the ground for the ABS/TC module? That ground looks good but I plan to clean it. The ground to the frame from the battery is crappy and needs replaced.
Looking forward to my ground cable coming so I can fix it.

Ran a temporary cable from the firewall ground down to the frame behind the LF wheel. No test data.

Found a snowy parking lot and spun the rear wheels a bit. Traction control overreacted as usual and no radio dimming. Did my temporary ground help? I dunno… Maybe it did.
Tossed a new battery in it today. Guessing the Bosch in it was maybe from 2018??? It’s not marked in any way. Bought a Continental battery from my trusted local parts guys for $136 and some change. Research says these guys are partnered with Stryten Manufacturing. Stryten is operating the old Exide plant in Salina KS.

So far so good. I tried my hardest to get it to kill the radio this morning. All seems well since adding the ground. Will do a permanent fix once my new ground cable arrives.

My battery cable came. It appears to be good quality. My only wish would be for a 90° end on it but I got clearance around the back by the fire wall.

I went ahead and installed it today. I found out the original cable wouldn’t reach from the block to the frame up front so I made up a 4GA cable to run. It even clipped into the factory holders along the frame. I cleaned up all the connections and then sealed them with Fluid-Film after.

Test drive yielded favorable results and the traction control does not kill the radio. All systems should work better.

That old one has some serious corrosion internal of the connector so I’m sure it wasn’t working too good. Nice job.

You mean the peeling wax coat? Yeah, thats what I’m going for.

****** me off actually… I like to spray these spots with the black fluid film. It melts into the wax and makes a nice coating.

At 90K I was greeted with a P2135 code for the TPS. I went ahead with the Standard Motor sensor at $60 and changed it out. Easy job. Cleaned the TB while I was at it. No idle relearn needed.

Man I hate these Cooper tires. They just don’t work well in the snow. Thinking about dumping them for some LTX m/s tires.
