Microprocessor. Aka chip.

My 22 z71 was built last Thursday 10/7 with all chips and is fully built, but is upheld in a QA check workflow, allegedly. GM chat is not helpful nor is selling dealer. For a 75k vehicle you’d assume we’d get updates on the hour…

Just curious, when did you place your order for your 22 ? I have an order in but only placed it on 10/1 so I'm not sure how far down the line I am, ha.

Well good news bad news for me. Truck was built Monday and now on MP hold. So apparently a non constrained 2022 really is constrained by MP’s
Very disappointing news. I was under the impression that once an order was picked up by GM and moved to 3400 status, all parts (including chips) were accounted for and the vehicle would be built. I guess that is not the case. I placed an order for a '22 Denali in early September and it was accepted by GM immediately. So far, everything has gone according to plan with a TPW of 10/11 like you. Did GMC or your dealer inform you of the chip constraint? Any idea on the length of delay?

My order went in the first day orders were open for 22. Looks like it was a Sat start Mon finish build. So one of the first 2022’s. Dealer let me know 8am Monday morning it was in chip jail.

I have found chat very unhelpful. I either check with my dealer or Linton on gminsidenews Chevrolet order tracking

Luckily, I got a pretty helpful GMC chat representative. I was told my Yukon has been produced (she gave me the VIN number) and is currently waiting to be picked up by the carrier. However, she then told me that the vehicle still needs to undergo quality checks. Since the event code given to me was 3800 (order produced - VIN is available) and not 4000 (vehicle available to ship), I am not sure how it could be waiting to be picked up. If it was waiting to be picked up, I would think the code would be 4000. I asked specifically if there were any chip holds and she had no idea and to check with the dealer.

Question - would a VIN be assigned if it were waiting for chips?

I have a vin and mine is on chip hold. Ask your dealer for the code or Linton on GM inside news Chevrolet order tracking forum to check for you. What you don’t want is 4D000. You can also put your vin into the Jack Cooper web page and see if it left the plant.

Yes a VIN will be assigned even if its on chip hold. The VIN tag under the windshield has to be riveted in before the windshield goes in. And all the other dozen or so places have their vin stickers already applied as well.

Thanks for all the information. I checked with Linton and he is showing 3800 so who knows if the next stop is transport or the dreaded 4D00.

I did check Jack Cooper and it says my shipping status is pending. Does anyone know if all vehicles immediately go to pending once the VIN is generated or does it have to be manually entered into the Jack Cooper database when the vehicle is actually ready for transport? In other words, are those showing 4D00 also showing as pending on the JC website?

Mine is showing pending and I am at 4D000. Hopefully yours makes it through. What was your build and we can see what’s different than mine.

Mine was a 6.2 Z71 Cherry red tint coat with every option available. I tried 2 differently Highcountry deluxes and neither got picked up to be built. Really not a lot of difference other than 2wd vs 4wd and the illumination package. (If that’s what my hold up is I won’t be happy lol)

I could find diesels just going on the Chevy website and using check inventory. If you want to search the whole USA, go to a central states zip code and expand to 2,000 miles and make diesel powertrain your only search parameter. I ended up finding one 44 miles away and bought it.

This is usually the best way to move along on a vehicle as long as you are a little flexible. I did this on the Chevy, GMC and Escalade site for months till I found one coming in that wasn't spoken for and went and got it, no matter where it was...
