Will a 2”Level kit allow me to fit by 275/65/20 on 2015 Yukon XL

I’m trying to fit 2020 Sierra AT4 wheels on my 2015 Yukon Denali XL. These wheels and tires will be my “overland setup”. I put them on and they rub as in the front as expected. I’m a noob, so I apologize for my noob question in advance. I was wondering if a 2” level kit would help with some of the clearance issues? The tires are 275/65/20 Goodyear wrangler ultra terrains. The wheels and tires look great on the Yukon. I don’t mind the rubbing but it won’t past the wife text. My next steps would be to trim or bend but would like to avoid if possible. Any help would be greatly appreciated

Looks like some major rubbing. Measure the center of the fender lip to the ground on both sides, then jack up the front of the truck so that those fender measurements are 2” more than they were then turn the steering wheel lock to lock and see what clearance you have. This isn’t 100% but will give you an idea if you can get the clearance you need with a level or if you’d be better off with a proper lift.

That particular 275/65r20 has an inflated diameter measurement of 34.1".
From my personal experience and my readings/research - trimming/modification is going to be required to run this size tire without any rubbing. Even with a 2-3" front lift, the rear inner fender is still going to be a problem.

The tire is already rubbing when parked on level ground. Think what might occur with wheel articulation, speed and a slight turn to the wheel. You could take some blue painters tape or contractor tape and line the inner wheel well. Then, take a drive around your local area, your usual "drive around town." Then, get out and see what kind of marks you have on the tape.

I think in order to run a 34"+ diameter tire, a level of at least 2" will be required. But, trimming will probably still be required. A 33" tire would not require any trimming.

FYI - the inner fender wheel well modification is referred to as a NorCal Fender Mod.

Yes. Unfortunately 2-3” level probably wont be enough to clear them unless you trim. And IMO, a full on 6” lift would probably look silly with that tire/wheel combo.

I personally would either trim or put on a slightly smaller tire.

Oh yea, and to me it doesn't really look like you have to do much trimming to be honest. I would try to pull back the fender liner a bit and go from there.

Honestly, a level kit really isnt gonna make much more room for them at all. Jack the front up a few inches with a floor jack and you will see what I mean.

That's odd. There are several guys on here running that size tire on your generation with no lift and no rubbing issues whatsoever. Look them up using the search feature, I cannot remember their names. Maybe your springs are tired.

A 34” tire? I doubt it. The stock 285/45/22 (32’s) damn near rub...hell ive read a few complaints from owners of completely stock yukons with slight rub.

Too bad you didn't get the 275/60R20 Goodyear Ultra-Terrains. I have those on my Yukon Denali with a leveling kit and they are tight but just make it.

I finally got a chance to peel back the wheel liner and found the culprit to the rubbing. I was able to bang/massage the metal back on the lower fender for both sides. Still rubs the wheel liner when fully locked but I’m ok with it. My level kit comes on Monday, I’m hoping that will finally take car of all rubbing. I also trimmed the plastic piece on the bottom as well. When I install my level kit, I might bang on the drivers side a bit more. I was a little hesitant the first time around. Added 2.5” level kit in the front and will be adding a 1” level for the rear this weekend. I no longer have any rubbing issues.

Added a roof top tent…can really see the rear squat now.
