I cannot authoritatively help you with your question, but I believe that in general, these 'extras' that the dealer tries to throw on you just before taking delivery on the truck can be duplicated at other places for a significantly lower price.

Agreed. Definitely not a must either IMO. If you want to spring for paint protection you would be better served going to a pro detailer. My guy did paint protection film on the hood, front quarters, entire front end, and mirrors and a ceramic coating on the whole vehicle. Pics are in the thread in my sig. If anything I'd do paint protection film.

I decided to pass on film as we don't do a lot of long distance highway driving anymore. I had my Tahoe ceremaic coated and am very pleased with it. I have had film applied to previous SUVs and Corvettes. If you use it for highway travel it is well worth it.

I’m with the others here. The Stealership is just itching to take your money with these unnecessary add-ons that are probably twice as expensive as other shops. Or do it yourself and save some money.

Been a vehicle detail buff for years including a corvette owner. A good coat of detail wax after every wash will make just about anything wash right off. It also makes the water bead like crazy. I don't even towel dry my vehicles. I take the electric leaf blower to it and the water blows right off. I use the one pictured below. Easy on and off. You can use it on all surfaces including glass and black plastic. Only a film will protect a vehicle from flying debris. Anyone that claims a coating will protect your vehicle from stone chips is selling snake oil :)

Definitely wouldn't trust the dealership to apply any kinda paint protection. Either do it yourself or go to a shop that does Graphene or Ceramic coatings. Itll probably cost the same but the results will be far better.

Even the wax from Napa that you can get in a gallon jug is good. I did mazda protege and it took the auto body guy an amazing amount of grinding to take off the wax to fix a dent. I polished it twice a year.

I agree with everyone else. Find a professional detailer & he’ll take care of you. I recently got a ceramic coat for my Tahoe & I love it.

Is there anything that will protect the clear coat from peeling from exposure to ultraviolet?

I live in an area that has extremely high UV levels. It's not unusual to see vehicles that have the clear coat peeling off of one side, that being the side that is usually parked on the south or west where the sun is strongest.

I recommend meguiars ultimate fast finish. You can literally apply to a vehicle this size in less than 15 minutes. You wipe it on then wipe it off, no buffing required, you won't find an easier protectant to use. It says it lasts a year but in extreme conditions I would apply every 6 months.

I opted out of the dealership add-ons, i.e. 5 yr wax, electronic rust protection. I don't feel it's a good value based on many years of purchases.

I'm going this Monday for a ceramic coating.

For the people who have done the ceramic coating, and vinyl protectants.

How much of your truck did you have it applied to (for the vinyl guys)?
How much did your application cost ?
Do you think its worth it, if you have had it applied to previous vehicles ?
