I’m going stir crazy so for ***** and giggles I took a drive to the bottom of the mountain and hit the junkyard just for the heck of it!
Scored a set of long esky racks in the San Bernardino junkyard today. Usually this one isn’t as good. The one on the other side of the mountain in the high desert is better. But today I went and there easily 20 GMT800 suvs and I was shocked. And I found a 2003 suburban with esky racks! No end caps but that’s ok. Haha. And they were dirt cheap!! I was like I don’t need them but that’s ok! I grabbed them anyways!! :D

No more pics? Anything else good?
Nothin else really good to post about. Although I found it interesting that whoever had these racks put on this suburban, didn’t know the anchor nuts were for the center bolts on the racks, and had them on the end screws one one side. Lol. I think it got the backs of the racks to sit flush with the roof of the truck though. Looks I gotta order me some more to get my racks to sit all the way flush. There’s a tiny gap on mine and it drives me nuts....
Unfortunately when the GMT800 rigs come in, especially the 2003-2006 trucks, they get picked over super fast.

Junk yards are a great place to social distance! My local pick and pull is full of creepers and everybody pretty much stays 15 or 20 feet away from each other on a normal day. Nice find! Mine is always full of vans and base model Tahoes and suburbans.

Great find! Anyone know if those Escalade racks are the same as the Suburban LTZ racks? I know the Escalade ones are low profile but I'm talking about the polished long sections that run front to back. I'd love to get one of those for the Z71 rack I have.

The one in Hesperia is actually pretty good and not creepy at all. This one in San Bernardino is borderline starting to be a tad bit in the ghettos, so sometimes I hesitate to go to this one. Sometimes there are definitely weirdos in this one. But yesterday was actually a pretty normal day there people wise. I laugh cuz I’m like it’s the very definition of social distancing :D

You mean these racks? I’d assume it’s the same on the LTZ racks, but the “polished” section is actual metal surfaces with chrome. Were you thinking it was like a cover piece of a plastic rack?

Yes exactly! I'd love to get those for mine but haven't seen any yet in our local junk yards. I wasn't sure if the rack was chromed, stainless or just a cover...never seen one close up.
