After finally getting headlights installed that didn't cause static in the back up camera, (ended up going HID with the Hylux/TRS kit) I thought I would invest in a dash cam.

Installed through the cigarette lighter it works great, everything as it should. However, since that is ugly I picked up a hardwire kit. After getting all of the wiring threaded through the A-piller, behind the airbag and under the headliner, everything seemed to work as it should.

However, as soon as I went to back up, the screen went blue and said "Service Rear Vision System." I unplugged the camera and no joy. Finally disconnected the fuse tap completely and the back up system came back online.

So my question is if anyone has used a hardwire kit that doesn't cause interference with the super sensitive rear vision system?

Also, in the process of going in and out I broke one of the plastic tabs on the fuse box trim panel--anyone know what the P# on that one? :/

Definitely not super stoked about having to run the wiring again, but that's the way she goes. I'd definitely appreciate any insight you guys could provide.

The fuse box trim panel should have a part# stamped on the back.

I did try that, mine has 84333435 stamped on it, but that doesn't come up with anything. There's one on a GM parts website with # 84015621 which looks close, but I'd hate to order the wrong one.

I've glued the plastic clips for now and I figure I won't put it back on until I get everything sorted. It will probably live through one more installation, but I wanted a back up for the inevitable "next time"

sounds like you taped into the wrong wire for power to your dash cam, I don't have a k2xx but I ran mine the same way and connected to accessory power so the camera is on whenever the key is on. My Garmin camera is usb powered (5v) so I just purchased a 12v to usb adapter (they are sold with a variety of usb angles and about 10' of wire), also note if your mirror has a light sensor on the drivers side the camera should be mounted to the right of the mirror

I had considered that, unfortunately the cheap ass fuse tap that came with the kit came apart trying to remove the fuses before I could try a different ACC source. I will have another delivered today and will try to use a different ACC source. (I used one labeled IGN power, or similar.) If that solves the problem I will be thrilled.

I hadn't considered the position of the cam, mine is in fact installed to the left of the mirror. But I don't have an auto-dimming mirror, so I'm hopeful that it won't be an issue. Thank you for the insight, definitely appreciated.
