I go to investigate and the bezel, dash trim piece has almost all the tabs broken off and it is barely hanging on.

I go to pull it out the normal way I have always done, tilt wheel, put it in low, grab lower right corner. As I am pulling it out the bottom snaps in two, then once I get it out I hold it in both hands while I look dumbfounded and it breaks clean in two!

The thing snapped like a cracker. The only thing I can think of is we bought the Denali in Tampa and maybe the sun made it so brittle!?! Although I have had it off before without issue.

Found one on ebay for $170 (And that was cheapest) so all is good now but yeesh.

This is always my biggest fear when removing trim.

Yeah weird thing is I have removed it before many times. It had a few tabs broken off from some yard ape in the past but other than that was in good shape. On the good side if the one in my Tahoe breaks I can get those for like $50 a pop, it's the Denali with the grey accents that make them so rare and expensive.
