I ordered the HUD and figured it would be a gimmick.

I wont have another vehicle without one now. Having the speed limit and your current speed right in your line of sight is awesome. Especially since the 6.2 can do 0-100 faster than most sports sedans lol.

Caveat: keep a pair of non polarized shades in your secret compartment!

Thanks for that info. I shopped Laura and Everett online only during my research. I never called either dealer since we decide to go with the Tahoe. But I do think, like you said, dealing with a high-volume out of state dealer may be easier if you are a cash buyer or are using your own financing. Leasing adds a few different issues to the equation.

Another difference, I'm not sure if I mentioned it along the line. Heads up display...I believe it may come standard on the Denali. It is an option on the Tahoe Premier to the tune of $500 or so. Even if you don't like/won't use the HUD, the instrument cluster is more refined and more digitized. With the HUD comes an 8" screen in the dash and only the speedo and tach are analog. Without HUD, you get the 4" screen and all of the gauges are analog. I recommend getting it. The whole middle section is customizable.

I've put pictures below to compare the two. View attachment 83440 View attachment 83441

I really like the look of the dash with the HUD. I always lease cars because I get to write them off to my biz. However I just noticed GMC is running a 0% Finance deal for 72/mo on the Denal's. If I go that route, I'll go to Laura's for the best deal.

Thanks again for your input!!!

Yep! Whats interesting is I see the Escalade can handle flex fuel but cant find anything on the Denali being flex fuel compatible. Odd!
Can't find anything to confirm your answer - as I understand it, if not designated flex fuel on the gas filler then it's not flex fuel - 2017 Yukon Denali 6.2l.

It's kinda scary and enjoyable how fast this trucks are. I had to set the alert for 80mph and it constantly beeps when I'm on the highway.

^^^^The leather and interior alone would have me going with Denali.

I've seen multiple people saying the interior in Denali is better than Tahoe (LTX/Premier). Just wondering which parts in particular is better on the Denali?... To me, they all looks 98% identical except the seat style and the extra piece of wood in front of the passenger seat.

That's a good question. After 16 years the leather seats in my Yukon are finally showing some tearing in the seams that i'll have to address. I've heard that the leather is better in the GMCs than the Chevy's, and best in the Denalis. What is the truth?

They're all built side-by-side on the same assembly line in Arlington. I'd have to see some very solid objective proof that the seat leather is different between GMC and Chevy trucks. That would be a very expensive production change that would eat into the economies they're trying to achieve with those.

looking at both recently and buying a tahoe premier, i didn't think there was much of a difference at all. Seems to be the same gauge leather.

I believe the seats are pre-assembled and staged for install so I don't think it would be difficult to install seats with different materials as the vehicles move down the line.

JMO, if there is going to be any towing being done, the 8 speed and 6.2l with anti-sway and rear air suspension is the way to go. Definitely more than worth the $6-8000 difference some have been stating.
We had a 5.3l Tahoe that I never towed with. However after that we had a Expedition EL with the 5.4 and 6 speed. The Denali is much better at towing than that combo was. Not towing...nope, not as important.

What year was your Expy? Why did you buy it, and why did you get rid of it? Just curious.

It was an '09 El Limited. It was all black on black. Very nice looking actually. I got rid of it because they offered me a decent trade in (customer looking for one) towards a 3 year lease.
I made the mistake of test driving a Denali and was sold on the extra almost 100hp.
One thing I must admit is that it was better made than my Denali, just not quite as many bells and whistles. It also drove nicer and the seats were more comfortable. I also liked how the rear quarter windows would open and how there was no AFM vibration. It also had a smooth shifting 6 speed transmission after I had the TCM tuned.
AAAHHHH, I miss that truck. :( :D

Thanks for your informed opinion. Not many people have owned both an Expy and Denali, especially the newer models of both. The Denali just looks so much better than the (old -2017 and older) Expy. I wish looks were everything!

Saw several 18 Navigators on road the other day and have to say they look pretty good. Kind of an enlarged land rover feel to it.

Exactly! The looks of the Denali is what got me looking. Then once I drove it, the extra power. Well, the 22" wheels helped a bit too. ;)

That was going to be my next lease. But by the time I was finished I was close to $100k. For an SUV I use as a truck on the weekends...nah.

When I bought my Suburban in 16, I also looked at a 16 Expedition EL. While it was nice (and less than the base Suburban LS, I could not bring myself to purchase a 13 model year old design.

No kidding? I haven’t seen any yet. Swung by ford yesterday and didn’t see any expeditions in the lot...
