Carry in vehicles
Some states allow the concealed carry of a handgun in a vehicle by people who lack a permit to carry concealed. In some states, for instance, Vermont,[29] carry of a loaded firearm in a vehicle is allowed whether in plain sight or concealed. Also note that in Vermont no permit is currently required to carry a firearm. If you can legally purchase a handgun you can carry it concealed. In others, like Texas,[30] the handgun must be concealed, or alternately as in Virginia,[31] it must be plainly visible. In still others, such as Kentucky, the handgun may either be in plain sight or in a vehicle's glove compartment, although carry anywhere else in the vehicle's passenger compartment (including a center console) requires a concealed carry permit.[32] In still others, such as California,[33] Maryland[34] and New Jersey, transport of a gun in a vehicle without a CCW permit is only allowed if the gun is unloaded and secured out of reach of the driver and passengers. Other states, such as Florida, have no restrictions as to the location of a concealed handgun for those without a CCW permit as long as it is "securely encased" (i.e., in a snapped holster, among other options) and that it is not on one's person (i.e., not in the person's manual possession). This does not alter the person's right to concealed carry on one's person outside the car unless one holds a valid CCW permit.[35][36] In Florida, it is illegal to have a handgun visible and in an unsnapped holster inside a car.[36][37] On the other hand, for holders of a valid CCW permit in Florida, it is legal to have a weapon concealed on one's person while inside one's private conveyance (vehicle, car, aircraft, or boat), or concealed in one's private conveyance, whether or not a snapped holster is used.[38]
The doctrine of allowing weapons to be kept in a vehicle, especially if kept in a ready state, is often called the "traveler assumption" in states which have it because an officer must assume a person carrying a weapon in their car is transporting it, pre-empting all but probable cause on the part of the officer that the person has or intends to commit a crime. Previously, states such as Texas specified that a person traveling is exempt from the statute, but the definition of "traveling" was not provided statutorily, allowing for varied interpretation by officers and the judiciary.
The traveler assumption is sometimes combined with "Castle Doctrine", which states in general terms that "a man's home is his castle, and he has the right not to be forced to retreat from it, and to defend it with deadly force if such need arises". The combination extends these two rights to a person's vehicle, and also makes it feasible to defend oneself by allowing the availability of a firearm. A person being carjacked perhaps, for example, could be justified under such a combination of laws in using deadly force to repel the attack, and could, to that end, keep a firearm in the vehicle that could be readily used.
The general guideline is that laws regarding concealed carry of firearms in vehicles vary from state to state, and even within some jurisdictions within a given state, for those states in which state laws do not include pre-emption over local ordinances regarding firearms. Additionally, officers may be ignorant of the applicability or enforceability of certain laws and may ticket, summons or arrest a person who is in fact acting lawfully.

When they popped the lock cylinder out, it was a clear shot to the rod that locks/unlocks your door. So once ya pop the cylinder all ya have to do is yank that rod n unlock the door.
On the subject of keepin the sidearm in the vehicle-BAD IDEA in my opinion, what if my .45 was in the center console? That would have been stolen as well. Now I'd have my registered handgun on the streets with my prints on it and my prints on all 11 rounds that are in it...
It is interesting to hear how fcuked up society is and how many of us have been wronged, but I'm really looking to get a tad more information on personal experiences with alarms/remote starts. I'm lookin to get one installed this week but have not figured out what's best for me.

Nope but I did the certification and should have my permit early next year. That one will stay in the truck, I'll have a 1911 for carry.

shit im the king of getting his shit stolen. thankfully not from my tahoe tho. when i was in high school senior year, i had my car broken into 4 times at school, stolen once from school and broken into once at my house. my poor first car

damn man everyone is getting their shit taken....my tahoe got broken into 2 weeks ago...i got some limo tints installed last week and the alarm is hopefully goin in after christmas before my subs and new navi/dvd goes back in...i hate theives
as far as the gun.. ive been wanting one for awhile and im getting a permit for sure...but i dont see why u guys would leave it in the truck cus if they break into the truck steal the gun thats reg in ur name, and also its another illegal gun on the streets..not good

bad thing about doing it in VA, is that i believe they will fingerprint you when you apply for a CCP.
I mean I don't think I have any reason to worry about that, i have a clean record
once ur suv is broken into u call the police an fill a report with the ish stolen along with ur hand gun. that way its in the system... sucks you will be without ur gun an whatever else they get away with but u shouldnt be in trouble as long as u report it with the right #'s off the gun an reg.. if im not mistaken ur ride goes under some catagory of ur personal items like if a robber was breaking into ur home u have the right to pop a cap in there @ss... im pretty sure that is somewat right

My understanding was you can't shoot someone unless you feel you or your families life is in danger. You can't just start shooting at someone because your pissed at them for breaking into your car. But every state is a little different, so don't quote me on that.
true, but then your fingerprints will be in the system. harder for you to commit crimes.

I guess I'm one of the lucky ones here. Not one of any of the vehicles I've owned have ever been broken into. My parents had someone attempt to do so on one of their vehicles but they were unsuccessful. My brother and I have never had any issues however.

Never had the Kon broken into but had the wheels stolen off my 07 silverado. What sucks worse i got them back then a month later some other ******* crashed into it when it was parked in front of the house

within the last year I ve had my jep broken into, 10 minutes away from me my girlfrieds car got broken into, and about 30 minutes away my buddies work van was stolen and stripped of just about everything. Im not even in a area considered high for car theft and break ins. I guess they needed the stuff alot more than my friends and I. My girlfriend actually left a credit card in her car which led to some leads and one arrest.
I think that when they catch anyone that has broken into a ride or stolen a ride, they should bring them back to the person who's ride it was and let them kick them square in the nuts as hard as they can............
