So, my daily for the last 1.5 years has been my 2015 Camaro. Not fun in the midwest, especially in the winters. And now that it is supercharged, even less fun. So I was on the hunt for a beater to put the camaro away so I can finish the mods to it, and keep it out of the elements....

The hunt began. I was shooing for a $1000-1500 budget. Something cheap. Something i didnt care about.

Then along came this.

2003 Tahoe LS 5.3, 131K on it.

Has two "rough" spots.

It had rear ended someone, and was a company vehicle. They put new headlights, bumper, and grill on it. Only thing it needs/needed when i got it?

Blower motor resistor (installed that night), and an airbag. Ordered it Sunday, and it will be here tomorrow.

Picked her up for $3100!

So, as a daily in the midwest...i figured, needed a remote start. Ordered a compustar remote start, and it should be here Thursday. It also needed something other than the factory tape deck/CD player, so picked up a Pioneer 8700 headunit on the cheap from work, and am installing that as we speak.

Then found a brand new HD hood for $100 on craigslist.

It is up being painted, and blended with the fenders as we speak.

I went to get in it this evening...and it looks like the wife approves, and has already laid claim to it.

My plans....are to fix the two rust spots, new grille, lower it, with some big wheels, and do headers, a muffler, and a tune (next week on the tune). Clean it up, and daily the ole girl.

Could not believe how immaculate it was, for the price, and she runs just as good!

I will be updating this thread as things are done to it.

Plans are installing the remote start tonight, then degrease the engine bay this weekend, and do a full tune up on it, so i have a clean canvas to work with, then tune it with HP Tuners.

And obligatory pic of the Camaro

Sounds like you've got a great deal and have some good plans, so I can't wait to see the progress. You've got a tough color to make look attractive though (personal opinion; please don't hate me).

You are 100% correct on that. And no hate! I agree 100%.

Looks really good. Looks to be in great condition, other than the rear quarters. Great starting point. @DDenali got an hd Hood!
Yup, guy who is painting my hood said he would take a look at the rear quarters and possibly just fix them while he is in there.

Trying not to get too deep in this thing, since, well, it was supposed to be just a daily beater...but, well, we all know how that is.

It's going to get out of hand before you know it! Wait until you start reading the other members pages and posts on here. Before you know it, you're going to put the camaro on the back burner!

Craigslist. $100. Lol

And yeah, i almost forgot about the Camaro until i pulled IT out of the garage today to pull the Tahoe in to work on it!
I'm telling you dude, it's already started with the hd Hood, then it's going to be the led headlights, then the head light lenses, then of course you have to match the tail lights, etc, etc. You'll see. :ehcapt:

Agreed. im looking at either a new Tahoe grille, or just going all out and doing the HD grille and bumper.

But trying to remind myself...daily...daily...

The Camaro is whee my money is supposed to go. Needs new DR's.

but i have a hard time driving up in the nose bleed section right now. The tahoe needs dropped in a bad way
