I love the volant. It's a sealed box intake but it's aggressive at wot. Intake alone make much power but use with a proper tune will make it more beneficial

Very happy with volant, magnaflow muffler on stock 2.75 piping and blackbear tune. Soon to have american racing headers and eventually Change Piping to 3 inch

IMHO, no, it's not worth it......unless you simply dig how it looks in your engine bay.

It wont so much by itself, you need to get better exhaust to see any real gains. Better throttle response, thats about it. You're gonna have a lead foot so you wont see mpg gains

I have had many intakes on different vehicles. I had a volant on my tahoe for a few years but took it off because all it did is make a lot of noise while pulling trailers with no noticeable power gain without a tune. Some vehicles yes, others no. If you do other mods and a tune go for it but if you are doing intake only don't waste your money.

There's an older thread discussing intakes. The result was to get the airaid mit and a drop in filter. Cost around $150 total and best performance since it uses the stock air box for cool air.

Found the thread

There's been much discussion on this as well as dyno results for all the major brands. From all I read there was only a few hp to gain and not much difference between them. I opted to go with a Spectre since it looks nice and is inexpensive. I just hated that huge plastic stock intake.

I went with spectre from autozone. I did it right when weather started getting warmer. My mpg did go up but it couldve been for other reasons. I just like the sound lol

Blackbear did a dyno comparison, and best was airraid jr (mit with high flow filter) for about 9hp. The stock air box pulls cooler outside engine bay air so no need to change it. You will hear increased sound at WOT, but no drone at hwy speeds like an exhaust will get you. I felt a slight improvement in throttle response as well. I just did the MIT with Z71 filter since I prefer changing out filter vs cleaning one (dont know how you clean an oiless filter)...
